I had been a big Dolphin user with my older Galaxy Tabs as that was infinitely better than Firefox (which was lacking in its tablet incarnation). But after using it on the idevices (iPad 3rd gen, mini & 4S), it seemed bloated and I found Mercury, which was my go-to for a couple years...

However with the 6+ & Air2, I found Mercury seemed a bit buggy, at least early on (e.g., I couldn't get a long-press on a link to drop a menu to choose how to open a link - although that could have been an iOS 8.0x issue), so thanks to this forum, I found iCab Mobile, which has pretty incredible customization and a ton of browser-ID choices.

As you can tell, I didn't mention Safari as IMHO, it basically sucks. :p And Chrome to me was too weird on my desktop (Linux), let alone on a phone or tablet.. And although I have it on my S4, I opted to stay with Dolphin on that and Mercury on the GTab 4. The Kindle Fire HD has Amazon's bizarre Silk browser, but I was able to side-load Mercury on there...

Just downloaded Mercury and really enjoying it so far. Does dolphin use as much/more memory as Mercury? Porting over bookmarks isn't really a priority for me. Just looking for the best browser that doesn't chew through the most memory for now.
Dolphin is pretty light. It's fast, doesn't reload tabs as has been stated here, and the single biggest reason I chose it over every browser out there is Speed Dial.

No going into Bookmarks, searching, finding and then pressing on your bookmark. Speed Dial right there.

It's also nice that because of TenFourFox (a fork of Mozilla that keeps PowerPC Macs current) Dolphin integrates via an addon - should I choose to use it. That allows me to mirror tabs from the phone to my Mac's browser.

All the way around, Dolphin I think is the better browser. But that's just my opinion.

What is the difference between the free Mercury and the paid version? I couldn't find out.

I like how it has an ad blocker, but it's not as good as the desktop extension I use for Chrome to block ads.

But the one thing that I prefer in Safari is how the address bar and bookmark bar disappear when you start scrolling, giving you more screen to read. I wish Mercury did that.

Mercury does have a very similar feature. At least the paid version does.

Don't know. Being satisfied, I paid for it.

I just (re)discovered dolphin. My main gripe in any browser is reloads. I've been giving it some rigorous testing and haven't seen a reload yet. Mercury, while better than safari, does reload at times. Mercury was my go to intik earlier today when someone stated dolphin has no reloads, I tried it, and was amazed to see they're right. Super happy with it so far.

The shrinking toolbars are one thing that drive me crazy in Safari 8. That, and the tab reloading are the two things that are most frustrating about Safari, which is a fine browser otherwise.

But Mercury goes above and beyond -- ad blocker, user agent switching, bookmark syncing/importing, extensions, selective clearing of cookies/history/etc., selectable search engine/separate search box, customizable toolbar buttons -- in short, it respects the fact that users may wish to have some control over their apps, a position which Apple seems less and less inclined to adopt.

Same situation on the desktop. It has its flaws, but I'd die without the flexibility that Firefox offers over other browsers, in terms of extensions, config options, and userCSS.

One thing the Mercury developers need to do is update their website, as some of the features are poorly documented, if at all, like the toolbar buttons.

My bookmarks are no longer syncing with Chrome. When I change a bookmark on my desktop using Chrome it is not reflected on Mercury with my 6 Plus. Can anybody please help? Thanks.

Edit: Figured out the issue. Bookmarks only update on Mercury browser once you quit and restart Chrome.
