White iPhone Obsession?

What's up with all the whit iPhone obsession lately? I don't remember being this crazy about it when the original 3G came out. Also, I find it to be kind of ugly. To each their own I guess. My main question is to all of those who find it awesome, why do you like it so much? This isn't a hate thread at all :), I just want to understand why everyone loves it so much. :eek:

I don't remember Apple saying they'd have the white 3G and then suddenly changing their minds but not telling anyone and then just letting everyone figure it out when they tried to pre-order.

So I dunno...it probably has something to do with that.

Exactly.. Everyone talking about the white iPhone is complaining about its lack of availability, pretty much.
 
I like it because it reminds me of the original iPods. Also fingerprints are less visible (when compared to the black) and it's something a little different that what the majority of people are going to have.
 
I'd prefer the white one just because most will have the black one, but I'd rather have a black one than wait for a white one. Hence if I'm lucky enough to get one next week, I'll get a black one.

I've got a white 3Gs now, but you can't even tell due to the protective case. Granted the new one has a white face, so you'll be able to tell but I think most people just want something that the masses don't have.
 
Because its so Apple. White products. And plus is DIFFERENT. I don't know of any popular smart phone that is COMPLETELY white. But hey, white is my favorite color -- hence ALL of my cars and trucks are white. But I'll be getting the black one, though. I'll just put a white case on it. I'm not waiting on the white one, I want my iPhone NOW. I'll just have to deal with the black one with a white Incase Slider case on it.
 
I've had white iPods and iBooks in droves. I want a white iPhone because it's 'Apple' to me. I went with black over white for the 3G and regretted it from day one. I won't make that mistake again, I'll hold out for the white iP4.
 
because you can't get one right now. Everyone wants something they can't have....me included. As for the white one...no thanks for me.

i seen a poll...only like 18% wanted a white iphone. so its very rare...
and now its unavialable makes it even more rare.
i think especialy people who use apple think they are special....
they also like the idea that only a smal % of people is using mac in the first place.

the white 3gs was nice imo. the white 4 looks to plastic to me. has this samsung like look i dont like.
 
What really irritates me is that I was on the fence 3 days before preorder as to which color I was going to order. Of course, I talked myself into the white one and then it wasn't available. I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to talk myself out of it ever since. I'll wait until right around launch day (as I've no chance of getting one then anyway) for an announcement about the white, but if none comes I'll probably give up on it.

While my MBP is black, I guess, I've always preferred the white Apple products. I remember when the first nano and video iPod were released, and they were the first to be offered in black. I purchased white. I had a white MacBook. I have a white 3GS. I just always associated white with Apple and therefore always chose white when presented with the option.

For the iPhone 4, I chose black for the first time. I think it's so hot, and while everyone is getting white for something new, I'm trying black for the same reason. I think both are attractive though!
 
I find it weird how the black iphone 4 people talk pure smack about the white phone 4 (calling it ugly, disgusting, feminine, etc)...

whereas the white iphone 4 people just say they like the white one better!

haha...

I personally am one of the people wanting a white iphone 4 ...

I like having things that not everyone else has... and by it already being not available, I'd imagine that it's going to be rare for awhile...

I went with the black 3G... And although I don't regret it, I am just in the need for a change... I really do think the white looks nicer though, it looks like it cost more too. Sorta like a brand new white BMW ;-)... Also looks sophisticated and sharp... I mean, everyone is gonna have the black... I don't like that....

Your situation parallels mine EXACTLY. But I got to thinking, with the current shipping date of 7/14 on the black ones, there is no reason I can't order now and then cancel up until a few days before then if the white becomes available at any point for online ordering. If the white is still unavailable for online purchase by 7/14, I would have likely decided to just go with black anyway. Might as well get the order in now before the date slips any further.

Besides, this will give me a chance to actually SEE both phones in person assuming the Apple stores have both on display before 7/14. Who knows, maybe I'll end up liking black better than white after all.

Also, I confirmed with Apple that there will be no problems if I cancel my black order to place a white one. They said that as long as the black one is canceled before ordering another, that there will be no issues from an AT&T upgrade eligibility standpoint.

Something to think about since your situation sounds a lot like mine.

this is what I plan on doing, I was concerned about how the pictures of the white and black will compare to the actual devices
I am, as of all the pictures and videos I've seen, set on buying white, and now I am forced to wait, which hopefully will help me.

After launch day goes, I plan on waiting to get the white until its been out for a week or so, granted it doesnt look like it will sell out, so I can go and look at both phones, and hear about any stories like not being able to see the white screen due to contrast issues outside

I may not get the phone on launch day, but I will get to make a more educated decision than anybody who has already preordered
 
What the big deal about the white iPhone 4?

I'm failing to see the attractiveness?

What would be your reason for getting the white iPhone 4 over the black one?
