The Office TV Show Discussion Thread--Spoilers on Show Nights.

Hey everyone, correct me if I'm wrong, but i cant seem to find a thread dedicated to discussion on The Office. So I made one. :p
So let the discussion begin!

What do u think is going to happen with Micheal's paper biz?
Am I the only one shocked that Pam would quit her Job? To go work with Micheal Scott at that!
Am i the only one here that feels its turning into more of a Soap Opera?

Cool new thread.

I think Pam followed Michael for the same reason she went to Art school - she is unsatisfied with her life as a receptionist. She even said specifically to Mike "I'll go with you but I want to be a salesman" (in so many words).

What I like about the office is that, to me, each character is meant to portray a specific group of people. Pam is the smart receptionist who just hasn't acheived what she knows she can. I think this is what made her impulsively go with Mike. What will be interesting is to see what Jim says about this, and how it effects their relationship.

That being said, I agree that it is turning into somewhat of a soap opera. This seems like a natural direction for the show to take, as they are running out of funny ideas, so they turn to America's other favorite thing to watch - romance. I'm not crazy about it, but it keeps the show dynamic to a certain extent, which I can get behind.

yes, but Pam and Jim have a mortgage to pay now. If Pam is working for Micheal Scott, as a sales person, thats one of the least steady jobs, like, EVER. lol. and on top of that, Jim is like one more goof off from getting fired by "Chuck".
Chuck is ruining the Branch(as if u couldn't notice). What i think is going to happen is everyone is going to eventually "quit" (maybe Dwight will stay haha), end up "working" for Mike Scott, and when the most profitable branch is pretty much dead, Wallis is going to fire Charles. Call Mike Scott, offer him his job back and everyone "working" for MS paper co, will come back. That's my feeling of what the set up for the finale is going to be.

There has to be a way back for both Michael and Pam. It was a shocking ending though....

I really thought Jim was going to quit with Pam, but he played it safe, and I'm sure if Charles fires him, then Michael will willingly offer him a position.

I think techfreak is spot on with whats going to happen in the coming episodes.

totally. Jim knows that Pam working for Michael is just a "professional hobby" right now, so to speak. But possibly they could end up being really good.:cool:.
i can just see Michael rolling in the $$$ when David Wallice calls and offers him his job back after firing Charles. and michael thinks about it and looks into the camera.
but now im thinking MSP co will be either really successful or pathetic. and he either will take the job back after slight hesitation, or say "no im perfectly happy here. im in good biz, and with all my friends".

The show is called "the office" not "dunder mifflin's office"

As long as some sort of office is around, the show can go on. I question though the documentary crew. Are they trying to film the workings of Dunder mifflin, or of the characters that worked at Dunder Mifflin?

I think because its tha latter that the crew will follow the characters. I see a few scenarios:

1)Charles angers the entire staff, all of whom quit and go to MSPC and they all have a new office park. business carries on as usual. The show either continues with MSPC, or Dunder mifflin buys it, everyone goes back to the old office, and Michael is given charles' job, but retains regional manager as well, so he stays in the Scranton office.

2)MSPC fails miserably, after siphoning more DM employees away, and the show ends.

3)MSPC fails, David, realizing the mistake in hiring charles, brings everyone back, with Pam in Sales (occupying the desk that jim sat at when ryan has jims original desk) and michael with a pay raise, or with added responsibility too.

Does anyone else HATE Charles with a passion?

I hope Michael returns to Dunder Mifflin but at the same time I want the Michael Scott Paper Company to succeed. :D

My pick is option 3.

Charles is supposed to be the enemy of the show, that much is clear. But, as a businessman, he did just about everything right in that situation.

The office under Michael was a mess! In RL, that place would have been shut down years ago, or at least Scott would have been fired. I think it was clever how the writers sent in a legitimate businessman who saw everything that was going on, and was (naturally) so taken-aback by it that major changes had to be made.

ya but the thing is, Scranton under MS was extremely successful.

that could be a good thing. what if DMI is about to be sued or something and goes out of biz. then our favorite office is safe. :D
