Just curious if anyone tried the Wacom bamboo.

The big thing is the bamboo is onlt pressure sensitive. The other more expensive tablet (Inosu sp?) has additional sensors for pen angle and pen rotation. The bamboo is pressure only.

The bamboo is great if you are doing photo re-touch. But it lacks features that you might want if you do freehand painting. The bamboo lacks a pen angle sensor so the airbrush tool is always aim straight down and the paint sprays is a perfect circle pattern. Also if you are using a flat brush or pen nib the nib can not be rotated to vary the line thickness because the bamboo lack a pen rotation sensor.

But for most work the bamboo does just fine, it's just not good at simulating natural media.

I have a small one. LOVE it! Its cheap, and always does the job! I use it on my Mac and my PC. Only costed $100! I give it a 4 out of 5 stars!

picked mines up used for $40 it's the small one and I love it much better then using a mouse :D

Angles and sensitivity only matter to certain users...also the addition of extra brush types like airbrushing, etc...these matter most to designers using tablets to help with illustration.

Photographers can get away with the simpler ones. I like having more buttons for control over things from the tablet. I don't really need the angles so much for masking and the basic touch up things i do, but i guess it's nice to have it if you need it...

I love my wacom bamboo! It's small, but seems to a perfect size. The sensitivity works really well and the scrolling ring is great.

well, ANY wacom is better than a mouse if you are doing illustrations.. and the above posters are right.. it all depends on what you are doing to do with it.

DO you want to do sketches and digital paintings? If so, you are wasting your time with the bamboo..

if you are doing photo touching, then you dont need the intuos..

But to say that they are the same and theres no sense in buying the intuos is.. well.. wrong

So the inutos is good for pressure sensitive brushing in photoshop? as well as angles?

yes.. the intuos is the BEST if you want to do any type of realistic paintings/sketching.. if you just want to draw some stuff and use the tablet to make it easier to create simple outlines, then you will be fine with the bamboo, but Intuos is what you would NEED for realistic looking stuff.

Bamboo has no pressure sensitivity

Just received my Wacom bamboo

I just received my Wacom Bamboo tablet, and if I use it too long my hand gets cramped. Such as when gaming with it, and using it as a mouse. (Just to get use to using it)

Does anybody have any suggestions?

O' and for some odd reason the mouse cursor seems to bounce all over the place on my Ibook g3 running 10.39. Works fine in windows.

Thanks

Bamboo has no pressure sensitivity

Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about, Bamboo has 512 levels of pressure sensitivity, Intuos4 has 2048.

You game with a bamboo? That's pretty impressive.

My bamboo doesnt jump around at all with my Imac. Does your hand cramp up when using a pen for a long period of time? If so it probably is normal then.

Sorry.. I meant almost NO pressure sensitivity.. i was the person who posted the ACTUAL comparisson.. obviously you dont have too much to do other than nit pick people on the internet.

Wacom Bamboo tablet

Hi Folks,

I am interested in buying the basic Wacom Bamboo tablet to use with Apple Aperture for mainly dodge & burn plug-in. Has anyone used the Bamboo tablet with Aperture? I just want to make sure there aren't any compatibility issues. Thanks in advance!

Thanks jampat! I will order one right away.

p.s: The Wacom website does not say that it is compatible with Mac. Did you have to install any software to make it work?

I don't remember. I think I installed something to add the tablet to system preferences and allow handwriting recognition, but I can't be sure. It was painless whatever happened.

Well weren't you the one who "nit picked" the other person who said there is no point in getting the Intuos4?
