I have the 1st generation ipod touch and love it. The only thing missing for me is the external speakers which I resolved by buying this and it works a treat.
I would think that blutooth would be cool and that you could transfer files
Plus, I thing the speakers shoul be louder as when I'm at school and trying to watch a movie or play music I can't hear it especally when everybody watchin the family guy how they all puke and you can't hear them talking inbetween or when I'm listning to sex on fire by kings of leon to anoy my friend I have to stick it in her face ( that's how I got a crack on my screen ) and a microphone to make voice memo and voice control

it saved me paying out for the 2nd gen just because of the external speakers I hope they unlock the FM transmitter
I could play music wirelessly through my car stereo and not have to worry about plugging and unplugging everytime I get out.
+ Some sort of wireless charge capability will be cool. If it were to have the FM transmitter I would end up draining my battery

Here is what the iPod Touch needs...
MORE Memory - LOTS more if I had my way, I thought this was supposed to be an iPod.
FASTER Chip - Faster is better Apple, live in the NOW.
BETTER Battery - I'd like to be able to actually finish a movie
I guess a camera is useful for some of those apps, and a GPS would be very nice so I can use my phone at the same time.
Oh and how about one of those nifty docks like you USED to include with the iPod which cost you a whole 50 cents. I realize you "need the profit", that is what the fanbois always say when Apple tries to screw you out of quality, but I figure since I am paying top dollar so you could do me that favor.
And while you're at it - a BIG iPod Touch that works better than the Kindle and handles all PDFs properly and easily. That would be cool to use around the house.
And please add the Google Voice App which would be slightly easier than going to the website. And hey, you might as well approve it being that Google pwned you, suck it up and take your medicine.
And please remember that 90 percent of iPod owners are Windows users, please make iTunes work without crashing so much. Funny how your commercials make fun of Windows crashing and you are the cause. Thank goodness you are now isolated in the newest versions of Windows, now you are the one that looks bad because nothing else crashes.
And before I go, I wanted to remind you that you have an Apple TV product. I would like to buy one, but it's a bit of an antique. I mean, my iPod is the size of your biggest Apple TV. That's probably why you discontinued my iPod, it made the Apple TV look ridiculous. Apple TV needs to be the basis of your AV library, not some red-headed step child. Start putting some real disk space in there (160 Gigs just makes me laugh) and give me a place to store my library in high def, and make it burn slightly less hotter than an arc welder, then we'll start talking.

I'd really like a mic and a faster chip, not so bothered about a camera, but It wouldn't be a drawback.
Longer battery life would be epic and a user-replaceable battery would be super epic.
A mic unlocks things like voice control, proper voice memos without an external mic, voip calls and lots of other epic things....

So a few months ago, I was hesitant about a camera, but after thinking it through, I'm close to believing there will be a camera. So here's what I expect:
-Memory Bump (without it the Zune HD has a better chance, and it has to follow the iphone)
-Longer Battery Life (this is a given)
-Better Speakers
-Faster hardware
-That special screen the iphone got on the 3GS
Those are the given, now there isn't a big change from the second gen, which leads me to lean on there being a camera. If there is a video camera, it needs a microphone (who wants to take silent videos). And that would be enough of an update as it is.
Now the big if is a GPS. That would be an awesome update, but I'm not sure if they want such a big update (shows weakness to competition).
We can rule out:
-OLED
-Everything the iphone has (Apple likes to save updates for later)
-And this what I believe, PLASTIC BACK! It needs to be set apart from the iphone!

The one thing I really want to see is a 64gb touch. I'm afraid they will only do 32gb now and do 64gb in 6 months or so (similar to the way they introduced the 32gb a couple years ago... and the way zune hd is not putting out a 64gb model right away).
