Considering far more people buy android phones, the definition doesn't really seem accurate.

Indeed they do, but they may well go into a store, looking for a nice phone that runs Android, and they are able, and do select the handset they like from a wider range of brands.

They do not rush out and but one, just because the company they love have a new one out and they MUST have it.

Sure there will be some, but that's very much an Apple thing.
And it's been said so many time, slap an Apple logo on it, and boom guaranteed mass sales

Personally I struggle to think of an example other than Apple users to which the term has been used as much in recent memory. That doesn't mean I like or agree with the term being used, but it's a reasonable example to use, I think.
The more extreme end of the "right to carry" crowd (e.g. the ones who like to make a point of going grocery shopping with a rifle slung over their shoulder) have a tendency to apply it to everyone who isn't them. I heard the term from gun enthusiasts decades before I ever heard it applied to computer users.

Clearly you haven't used Windows in a long time. Windows 10 is stable, compatible, and runs amazing on older hardware. You can also buy really capable desktops for about $300. The same cannot be said about Macs.

In fact, doesn't everyone here complain that there aren't any new Macs? Not a problem in the Windows world. I guess I'll take this comment in stride knowing Mac users lives are as hard as it is.
My school just changed all of their lab desktop workstations from Windows 7 to Windows 10 last semester. Let's just say my expectation is a little higher than yours.
Not only they run a whole lot slower (maybe because they are on spinners instead of SSD). Took more than 5 minutes to boot into usable zone. The change of UI has also made it very difficult to adapt.
I ended up using my old laptop that has an i5-2450M, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD running on Windows 7 Professional to finish my lab assignments. Because of that, I am still staying away from Windows 10 for a long time to come.

The problem isn't that Apple users are considered sheeple.

The real problem is that PC, Android, Linux, Arduino, etc. users don't see themselves as merely sheeple of just another breed.

Maybe with more wool growing over their eyes.

As somebody who has primarily switched to Windows and Android for the time being, this is very unprofessional and gives me a very poor opinion on them currently.

The test for an alcoholic is whether he/she can confess that they are, or whether they keep denying they are (with a bottle or a drink in front of them, no less). The same test can apply for Apple Sheeple. Especially many that have posted here.

Wow. That is in very poor taste at best.

Totally agree. When did it become ok just to make one word out of two totally unrelated words? This irritates me as much as people combining celebrity names. Shame on you, Merriam-Webster. Or, should we just call you "Mebster?"

School computers could have all bits of custom stuff running that could be messing up the responsiveness.

This has not been a problem on the consumer installations I've used. Windows 10 boots and responds more quickly on both my aging 2500K system and my 6 year old min spec AMD HP laptop.

That case though. I had almost forgotten how poorly designed it is. It must still keep Johnny up at night knowing it has the Apple logo on it.

Wow, the Merriam-Webster Dictionary sure has changed since I was a kid! Of course, women still wore white gloves to some special events when I was a kid, so that tells you how long ago my frame of reference goes and how old the red-covered Merrimack-Webster dictionariy in my office is.

It was a funny burn, but jeez, I do find it a bit uh...personal...for a dictionary. I don't remember dictionaries taking potshots at specific groups of people to make a point before.

I always thought there were some really comprehensive online slang dictionaries for words like this. I would not have thought to look in the regular dictionary for a word like "sheeple". Good thing "Brangelina" is history.

Amazing how sheeple is still used in reference to Apple considering there are STILL people who refuse to return the Note 7, a phone which literally spontaneously combusts and at this point cannot be fully charged or access cellular networks.
That's not true, Samsung send out an update that bricked all Note 7's so they'd be little point holding on to one.
