For me, what is much more interesting is VR Presence in the real world. VR and AR can give you a much better feeling of being ‘present’ in a location than a 2D camera… think of taking a morning stroll in the Vatican or Versailles, going to visit Macchu Pichu or climb El Capitan, or going for a tour of the Louvre, or watch a concert or sports game from ringside seats.
Apple’s new Immersive Video format is a step in that direction, but you could also do it live. And you could do it with interactive options like switching from one camera to the next for exciting moments - the whole process of editing that we now pay professionals to do with 2D camera’s.
