Should be getting my copy tomorrow. I don't know why I do this with big full-priced games though. I've still not finished any of the big games on my PS4. It just feels like I have to get this... if that makes sense.

I've gotten kinda bad about this, too. Yesterday I bought The Witcher, Arkham Knight and Until Dawn for PS4, only because our local electronics retailer had a "Buy 2, get one free" special. I can now add these three games to the stack of unopened games in my living room. They will be in good company with Dragon Age Inquisition and Alien Isolation! :D

Well then!

I must be the only person not interested in it ... Just could never get into any of the other MGS games and I've given them all a go at some point.

Nah, I'm with you. Tried a few of them. I love stealth games, but the gameplay here somehow never did it for me. And the convoluted story and characters were actually quite annoying to me.

I will still try Ground Zeroes one of these days, as it was a Plus freebie.

I'm the same with MGS2, 3 and 4. They didn't really pull me in. But Peacewalker was my GOTY 2010 so I'm really pumped for this one.

If I want mg v today will local Game store let me purchase it before release day
Oh no I don't think they'll do that. I ordered had my copy preordered and they all shipped early to beat Bank Holiday Monday.

I'm only an hour or 2 into it. So far it's behind PW for me. I mean, the action is gigantic but it's lacking the weird little tics that PW had (and MGS1). Completion screen says I'm 1% in so there's loads more to get through.

But seriously the cut scenes are phenomenal.

Never got to play anything after MGS1. But that was by far my favorite game on PS1. Not sure how it would hold up today considering how ridiculous some of the characters and storyline is. Campy, but found the game to be fun. I will probably wait for another deal before picking this up, but it seems to be getting very positive reviews.

Gezz dude was that planned?

I'm loving the game, I've been a fan of the series since the first Metal Gear. I still don't know how I feel about this "open world" they got going here because there is a lot of nothing in between outpost and camps but I'm not to far into the game so maybe it will change.

Although I think the "open world" is not a strong point(for now at least) you don't really have to traverse it just call in your helicopter and use it as your base to select missions.

Bless

I've only got to the use your helicopter stage today.

Plenty of action though will get a few hours from mgsv

I messed up.

My original plan about a month ago was to slowly start making my way through Snake Eater and Peace Walker on PS3, before finally playing Ground Zeroes as a way to reintroduce me to Big Boss.

It all went south, and I'm still on Snake Eater (which is still an awesome game FWIW).

I'm guessing I'll finally get to MGSV in October :(

NO STORY SPOILERS - DONUT WORRY;

I've got mixed feelings over this one.
1) the gameplay is really good. I like the variety in how you approach situations. Reminds me a lot of Crysis.
2) the shifting parametres keep the game feeling fresh. A friend used lots of gas canisters on his infiltrations, later on guards started using gas masks.
3) doing side-op missions without going back to the helicopter or mother base is really nice and fluid. I find myself completing those in single runs, happily wasting hours in the process.

But! It needs editing. It's not punctuated enough with cool stories and characters. In Peace Walker you had a good idea of the story by the 3rd mission, it threw in hooks. V doesn't have those hooks, or if they're in it they're way too spaced out. The intro mission is great but once you've got Mother Base it starts to slow down.

The visuals (on PS4) are nowhere near as good as I thought they'd be.

The music is outstanding. I love how various sections appear depending on the current situation, I'm also sure the keys or pitch shifts around too.

As incredible as V is, overall I prefer Peace Walker - not as cinematic but there's much more focus.
