Why would you want a traditional keyboard when you could have a large touch-sensitive display there that is either a keyboard or whatever else might be desired (music keys, scientific instrument, additional display)?

Exactly, there is even less reason to want one on an ultra-portable now the technology is there, today, on iPhone and iPod Touch.

There is also, coincidently the SDK for iPhone coming out in Feb (?) good timing I think...

think about it, they could come out with a keyboard with a stand for a tablet built in so that whenever you put it into the dock, the macbook would atomaticly reconize it and you would be able to type with a keyboard
and have any of you used the mac tablet, there is one out there!
