I do hope this is true, and I think it will be, otherwise why was this September 30th deadline put on the free case program?

I reckon this is also when the white iPhone 4 will come out, as Apple have seemed to have decided not to produce it until it is perfect, which due to the antenna issues, proximity issues and these apparent pigment issues, has not yet happened, so they must be choosing to fix the antenna and proximity sensor before they sell any white iPhones.

To those who are saying they will be furious that others are getting a better iPhone 4 than their one with the antenna issue, I ask, why didn't you return it? Products get updates all the time. Remember the original iPod photo? It was like $500 and then only a few months later it was reduced to around $380 or something. You can never win when buying technology, because as soon as you buy, something better will come out very soon, and if you wait, you'll never end up buying anything.

Nevertheless, I will be getting myself a white iPhone 4b on September 30 (hopefully!).

i don't see this happening. there would be a lot of angry customers if this was true

When has Apple ever not updated a product and made it better? Sure it irritates early adopters, but those of use who know better than to buy a first-model Apple product benefit.

Strange

If the rumor is true that there is going to be a revision on iPhone 4 then the current iPhone 4 owner shouldn't mad about it because it seems that you are happy with it. You should not make any class action or whatever you call it. Because if you are nit happy with your iPhone 4 by now you should have return it or do not buy at the first place.

So to all who are happy with your iPhone 4 at the moment, are you pissed off if there is a new revision to the iPhone 4?

It was even worse with the 1st generation of iPhone. Apple doubled the storage capacity from 4 to 8 GB after three months, and reduced the price from 599 to 399 USD. A lot of people who had been camping in line outside the store to buy their soon-to-be-outdated devices got furious at Apple and declared that they would never buy anything from Apple again. Talk about having buyer's remorse. Makes me wonder why they bought those iPhones in the first place.

I hope Apple will do the same with the iPhone 4. That is, double the capacity to 64 GB and reduce the price with 33 % :D

I wouldnt dare to believe this.

Im in mexico and we well know that telcel is all half lies on whatever they say. it's a monopoly owned by the richest person in the world. their data and phone prices make you feel violated

Good for Apple in finally fixing the problem (if the fix is true). No reason for early adopters to get mad because from day one everyone and their brother was talking about this issue; the fanboys wanted to pretend that nothing was wrong and turned a blind eye to the problem. I voted by not buying into a faulty design. Apple gave people 30 days to return the phone and also provided free bumpers. A permanent fix was not going to happen over night. Won't shed one tear for the people wanting a replacement. Next time vote with your dollar and show apple that people cannot be easily fooled.

People are using iPhone 4 with great satisfaction, whatever you whiners are saying in this and other forums. That's what really count for their money ...

They didn't. Actually they cancelled the 4 Gb models and reduced the price of the 8 Gb ;)

Has anyone ever considered that maybe the end of the free case program exists because it's just like rebates in the sense that you have the offer for some sort of benefit but it only lasts a certain amount of time so those that put it off for too long won't be able to benefit?

There's no reason to make it indefinite.

Isn't Germany part of the EU?
Wouldn't they have had decent comsummer protection in place well before that?

When Jobs said Not happy Return it. It wasn't a specific Apple policy for this event .He was encouraging people to live up to their side of the deal as consumers and take advantage of laws that are seasonably common world wide. The rights of Consumers to vote with their feet. Get a dud and in any complex machine like a phone, computer or car there will be a few take it back decide if you risk another one, change model or get a refund.

Not that it really needs specific law even basic contract law requires then to live up to their side of the deal if they expect you to live up to your side.

The usual period to withdraw from a telco contract is 14 days. At least here in Germany. So basically you are right. Within 14 days you can return your phone, withdraw from the contract and be happy - at least that is your right.

As service in Germany is even worse than iPhone data plans, and the worst clerks I ever encountered work for T-mobile, be ready to take a whopping three-hour-discussion at the desk until you have your money back.

I'm still waiting for the insurance policy I bought, when I switched my wife's 1G to 3GS iPhone. It's been 6 months now and no sign of it in any way. Called 3 times about that - no reaction. So I won't even imagine bringing back a phone to them.

And another stupid thing - in Germany you are basically dumb if you prolong your contract. Well, it's automatically prolonged if you don't cancel it 3 months before expiration, but basically even if you prolong your contract, the phone upgrades you are offered are more expensive than switching providers.

Hey, I get a Samsung Galaxy and a XBox 360 Slim with my contract for free :D:D:D

***** You Apple!!!! I Just Bought My Iphone 4, And You Release A Better One A Month Afterwards While It Is Still A New Device?

Actually, I don't experience signal drop. I am a Hong Kong iPhone 4 user.

But there is a green spot in the camera when I take photos indoor.

I do hope this is true, and I think it will be, otherwise why was this September 30th deadline put on the free case program?

Because they can't ship it for free forever...it costs too much. It was just a way to calm people and the polemic around...so people buying it after Sept 30th would not hear much about that issue (if any). Let's remember that most of people (not people/geek like us) are not even aware of that antennagate.

either or

Either, they are going to fix the antenna problem once and for all,

or, they are going to extend the free case program,
or,

they are going to INCLUDE some even cheaper case with the phone in the box, which would make more $$ sense for the company.

they WILL do one of these, the current phone requires it.

Hello

let's say apple brings out the new iphone 4 revision secretly or publicly

apple say the last day for the bumper is the 30 september. everybody is looking for the 1 october. but what does this mean for the customers?

will they get the new revision when they order the new iphone on the 1 ocotober

or

including 1 october? So 1st Product Delivery Date 01.10.2010?

Hoping for a revised iPhone 4

I have been waiting since last year to get the 4th generation iPhone because I still have the 1st gen iPhone. I waited a few weeks after its release only to find out that some people complain that the 4th gen is possibly defected. Seeing as how I don't want to buy a defective product I've assumed, like many of you, that Apple is going to put out a revised iPhone 4. Once the bumper program expires they are still left with a "faulty" product until next summer. That wouldn't seem to make good sense for any business. Also, the fact that the white iPhone keeps getting pushed back seems to tell me that Apple may have a revised iPhone up there sleeve for this fall. I can only hope so. If not, I guess I'll wait until the 5th gen iPhone....

I think they're more likely to just put the bumper in the box, than change the design.

I agree. If they put the bumper on the phone in the box, then the problem is fixed, the phone feels nicer, (too sharp on the corners bare - can't wait for the bumper to arrive), aftermarket manufacturers of cases still have products, and packaging doesn't have to change.

Any applied coating on the steel will jut be something to fall off or get scratched and generate complaints.

Annoyed I can't get a white bumper for the black phone, since the black bumper makes it look a bit too stark. Silver bumper would be fine.

I don't know about all that! Like I always say "I'll believe it when I see it."

iPhone 4 32GB, iPod touch 64GB, iPad Wi-Fi + 3G 64GB, 27" iMac, 17" MacBook Pro, iPod Photo 30GB, 2x iPod video 30GB (black and white), iPod classic 80GB & 160GB (black, white)

Thats alot of apple!!!! :apple:

iPhone 4 Revision

1- at some point they will need to address the antenna issue with a HW change though I will be surprised if it is this soon. (I think after 9/30, new iP4's will come with a bumper IN THE BOX.)
2- like a previous poster said, if you aren't happy with the phone now, take it back NOW. don't sit around waiting on a fixed model so you can complain and threaten to sue because you were "tricked" or something :p
3- I have a black bumper on my iPhone 4, (along with the invisibleShield to cover the front and back), and it works great for me. No real issues with the proximity sensor thing because I almost always use a BT headset. I talk too much to walk around holding a phone up to my head all day.

Bottom line- if you have problem with Apple, their policies or products, DON'T BUY THEM!! Get a BB or an Android and go about your merry way.

why wait?

If you keep waiting, you'll be stuck on that 1st Gen iPhone until it quits. There will ALWAYS be something newer and better just around the corner.

The white iPhone keeps getting pushed back because they are having problems with the glass. I have heard they can't get it to be the shade of white Apple wants after going through the manufacturing process. Once they get it right, they have to manufacture and ship enough of them before they will start selling. (There will be a big rush for the white because lots of people are holding out for it.)

I have a 32GB Black with a black bumper and couldn't be happier. (Now I just need to sell my old 3Gs )
