Looks so wrong, hopefully the acting makes it more believable.

In that poster, he looks like a sales person.

I never knew who Shindler was till I saw the movie. Had no issues with the actor ;)

With jobs..... gonna be hard...

His engineering credentials aside, wasn't Jobs one of the greatest sales people ever. Appropriate, no?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this movie is destined to be a disappointing flop.

Is there a setting where I can block any apple/steve jobs movie related news on the front page? I am a big apple fan but I really don't give a single damn about this movie. If this keeps up I will start visiting macrumors less because this is just getting ridiculous. This is a mac news site, not a celebrity news site. I don't care who Michael Fassbender is but he shouldn't be on macrumors.

Christoph Waltz, before he became famous with Inglorious Basterds, once played a late legendary German singer. He looked nothing like that singer. When he was asked how he deals with that fact he said: "I'm an actor, not an impersonator."

I think that hits the nail on the head. There's nobody who could bring the late Steve Jobs as the world knew him back in a movie. But a good actor can develop the character and tell the truly fascinating story of his life. Don't look for a lookalike - look for the story.

Interestingly, the picture looks nothing like either Jobs OR Fassbender, for some reason.

That said, I don't understand all the comments saying how wrong Fassbender is. The goal is not to get the actor who most looks like Jobs. It's to get the actor who can best play the part. Who cares if he doesn't look like Jobs because is anyone really going to be watching an Apple movie with, say, Noah Wylie and forget that it's not Steve Jobs on the screen? We know he's an actor.

Fassbender is an excellent actor and that should be the main criteria, not some superficial idea of who looks more like the real person.

Don't you guys know? Chris Rock (seen above) will portray Steve Wozniak. The resemblance is uncanny!

Noah Wyle

He looks nothing like Jobs

Why on earth they did not pick Noah Wyle !

Ah ! NeXT machines ! I'm fortunate enough to have a cube and three NeXTStations. And the Printer... They are so nice...

Guys, we really have to get off his looks a little. If he portrays Steve Jobs' personality spot on, then its a good choice. We will have to see, but in his roles in the latest XMen, he had some pretty dynamic range from intense anger to an inspiring leader - something that is right up the alley of something we need from a Steve Jobs portrayal.

I can't believe we're judging this before any of us have actually seen it..

It's not like we would judge a new Apple product before it's released..
Oh, wait....

True, but a movie is not supposed to be an exact copy of reality. You have to weigh all your options and best cards (money, actor choices, timing) and the limitations of the human species (we don't all look alike). If the movie is good, who really cares if he looks off. If he acts like Steve Jobs like we know him, it'll be enough.

or as Sony did, take the last actor willing to do the movie, they went through a ton of candidates that backed out.

I know the actor doesn't always have to look exactly like the person, but the bar was set pretty high with the resemblance Ashton Kutcher had to Steve Jobs.

This actually makes me quite excited. Who cares that he doesn't look like Jobs, we can't judge until we've seen the film. Fassbender is an outstanding actor and I have no doubt he knows what he's doing.

I understand the concept that it's the acting that counts, not the looks. And I would love to agree with that.

But that NeXT poster is almost painfully bizarre. You could literally substitute any random guy dressed in business clothes and it would have the same effect. That is to say, disorienting and downright baffling.

I'd rather have Cookie Monster play Jobs.

I'll give the movie a chance. With raised eyebrows, nonetheless.

Fassbender is a great actor. Love him.

But he looks absolutely nothing like Steve! Even Ashton Kutcher was more believable.

Am I the only one that thought Kutcher was a decent Jobs? Looked liked him, was good as that tantrums seemed to have done his body language decently, only thing missing was the voice. His acting may not be A level but it wasn't terrible either. I blame the script more than anything and the movie was too short with too few details.
