Before it was Batman, now it's Magneto. Next thing you know Ironman (Robert Downey Jr) would be cast to play Steve Jobs.

Makes sense. Given how Magneto could control and bend mental with his mind, that's about as close as you can get to having a reality distortion field.

The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts...

If you are unfamiliar with Fassbender's approach to acting, the guy is a machine. I'd be very happy if this went through. Loved him in Prometheus.

2nd for Fassbender. He is a talented actor. His performances in Prometheus and X-Men First Class were terrific, taking interesting material and making it better. And I haven't even seen his more critically acclaimed film performances yet. Not exactly sure about the look for Steve Jobs though.

Looks in these biopics aren't the be all / end all however. Anthony Hopkins was perfectly enjoyable as Hitchcock, another easily recognized genius. Close enough to capture the spirit.

EDIT: Oh yeah, 12 Years A Slave. How could I forget that? Amazing.

Nothing against Fassbender. Its a really great actor, but not for Steve Jobs role.

Must be Noah Wyle

OMG ! OMG ! OMG ! Fassbender is my favorite actor of this decade. He is an acting genius. Yeah he doesn't look at all like Jobs ( but neither does DiCaprio ), but he is a finer actor than both DiCaprio and Bale.
If you haven't seen "Shame", please do and you'll understand. Stunning performance.

Oooh, interesting choice. Fassbender is indeed a great actor. I'd definitely be interested to to see him play as Jobs.

Ok, this is like the 8th person that is playing Steve jobs. Do we really need that many Steve jobs in a single movie? Or how many movies are there going to be.

Fassbender's best performances are in HUNGER and SHAME, both directed by Steve McQueen. Also notable are his performances in 12 YEARS A SLAVE (McQueen as well) and FRANK (dir. Lenny Abrahamson).

For all of Kutcher's ability to mimic Jobs' mannerisms, JOBS was an utterly terrible movie.... If the Sorkinisms can be kept to a minimum, and the sexism inherent in much of his writing toned down, you may end up with a good story and then what you need is an excellent actor to drive it home. Fassbender's body of work is as impressive or more than Bale's so he's certainly capable.

Looks are completely secondary... It takes only a few hours to change someone's appearance with makeup and wardrobe. You can't teach a career's worth of that calibre of acting in an entire year.

The Kutcher movie was almost completely generic.
I fell asleep halfway through while watching it on Netflix.
Didn't bother to watch the 2nd half after I woke up.

Aside from the horrifically bad score, it was as if the writer(s) had gone through wikipedia entries on Jobs and Apple, and then gotten half the dates, places and relevant characters wrong anyway.

He looks close enough to Jobs, and he's a great actor.

They made him look completely different in the movie FRANK:

I don't think this movie will ever be done. There's something fishy about it that a few great actors already passed.
;)

He may not have the physical resemblance to Jobs that Bale could have had, but he is a significantly better actor. So that would make me quite interested in the movie.
