I got mine last Friday at the Apple Store in Novi. I was there just this afternoon and talked to the staff. I was told that everyone in line today got one.

The mall opens the doors at 8:00 am and the line goes in and then lines up again behind the ropes. The staff tells you what they have and then around 8:30 they start taking orders. You get a ticket and they have your name.

I got to the mall around 7:30 am and there were already about 40 people in line outside the mall doors. Everything was quite orderly and I was out the door by 9:30 am.

Just call the store the night before you go and they will tell if they have stock for the next day. The store number is 248-344-7100:)
 
Just a heads up, The taylor bestbuy has ipad2's in stock. I walked in and grabbed a white 16gig wifi. They also had 32gig in white/wifi, 64gig 3g not sure of color or gsm or cdma.

In all they had about 10-12 ipads sitting there waiting with no waiting to buy/lines.
 
Wow! Last week Taylor BB said all their stock was for reservations. I struck out at an Apple store due to long lines. But got mine last week at Target using the targetipadstock.py script. Bought the last one 1hr after it showed up in the locator. I've kept it running just to see traffic and ipads are scarce in Michigan. Good luck to fellow Michiganders!

What time did you go mfranks985? I called around 10~11 am and they said they were all out, despite their online inventory showing "in store only".

I am trying to track one down within the next week as a gift to my mom. I figure the iPad 2 would be great for her, as it's simply and straight-forward to use.

The hard part is... now I have to find one within next week!

I think I will have to go early to the Novi store. Anybody know if they get shipments everyday? Including Saturday shipment, so I can wait inline on Sunday?
 
Novi Apple Store

From what the staff told me last Friday, they don't get shipment on Saturday.

No reason to go on Sunday or maybe even Monday.

Call the night before and they will tell if they are going to have some for the next day.

Remember the store opens at 9:00 am for iPad sales only.

Also, anyone know what it's like at the Brairwood store? There seems to be a lot of posts about Novi store. Anyone know?

I was there between 2:30 to 3:30 pm
 
There was about 5 Ipads at the taylor bestbuy yesterday at around 6. I purhcased a 32 gig white 3g ipad. Woot!
 
I was at the Sterling Heights WalMart (on Van Dyke) yesterday am at 7am picking up some backup electronics for presentations - no iPad2's.

When I returned the items at 4:30pm, they had 3 iPad 2's in the case. All white. A 16GB, a 32GB, and one of the more expensive 3G's.
 
Just got off the phone with Briarwood Store... very frustrating.
The young lady that answered would not tell me if they have a shipment in today or not. She said they will have a sign tomorrow morning.

Which is ridiculous, I thought... what about those people that have to drive far to get to the mall? They are going to make people drive only to find out there is no stock?? Doesn't make sense.
 
I got a call from the Best Buy store I placed a reservation at in Auburn Hills. It is a 32GB WIFI Black. I do not need it anymore as I have already bought one.

I am willing to let someone have the reservation. I could meet you at the Best Buy and give you the reservation form.

We would have to meet there tonight (Friday) as that is the only time I have available.

I maybe interested. Are you asking for any compensation now that you're giving up your reservation? Also, is there a Private Message feature on this forum??
