I've been through this ad infinitum with sales staff and I even wrote The Steve about it. His response was that Apple's font rendering is considered the best, which of course is bogus: It's subjective. Apple is known for their blurry/grainy fonts that respect the intended letter shapes, whereas Windows uses very sharp but somewhat misshapen fonts. Anyway the only solution for you is to either return the laptop and get one with high dots-per-inch (dpi) like the 17 inch MBP or get an external monitor that has high dpi.
Anyone have insight into how long this is going to last? I'd love to run down to the Microcenter today, but would be easier later in the week and really hope the deal is still in place.

If you look on their site, today July 5th it's still coming up as $999.99, according to the sale circular the sale that the MBP is a part of was supposed to expire on July 4th. In June it was also included in a sale that ended on June 20th, shortly thereafter, I think it was a day or so they posted the current circular which extended the price to July 4th. So, until they post a new circular or change the price from $999.99 it's anyone guess. I suppose you call and ask them if the sale is being extended.
I just checked (the new sale circular is posted) and Micro Center has extended the sale on the $999.99 MacBook Pro MC374LL/A to July 18th, same as the rep told you, so it looks like later this week will work for you. Enjoy!
