It’s basically Windows Vista 64 bit with a skin, new drivers and Direct X 12.

Every Windows OS in the last 20 years has just been a reskin like that. Many of the admin apps haven’t even been reskinned since Windows XP.

macOS does major reboot from the ground up every five or so years. Every year is a major rebuild that requires many apps to be updated.

While many Windows apps do indeed have very old UI frameworks (and you can visually tell), it's not accurate to argue that XNU/Darwin is getting "a major reboot from the ground up" more frequently than NT. Windows has evolved plenty since Vista.

Recall looks quality if it works
Yeah, I was just thinking that’s a pretty useful…. Just ask it to show you the website you visited a couple weeks ago… an eggs Benedict recipe…. And then boom! Pops up the page. That would be really nice.

Likewise, the ability to modify photos by targeting the background or foreground sounds amazing…

No way I’m going to switch from macOS to Windows… But it would be awesome if Apple added some cool features like this….

It's concerning how far behind Apple seems with AI. Google has AI built into Android and MSFT is making AI PCs. Apple still has Siri that can't do anything...

There is no behindness. Nearly all use of so called AI has been for spam, deepfake and revenge porn. Real industry and economy hasn’t seen benefits yet and anyone who says there is a two bit liar with an investment to protect.

So that means nobody is behind. Apple has been working on future products behind scenes for many years. They do no sleep at the wheel. They always wait for other companies to release **** and then they come along with a better experience.

I just want a switch that disables all that co-pilot **** in Windows!! And stop trying to get me to use Edge for the f'n last time!!! Chrome is still better. Pains me to think Apple will be partnering with M$ and their OpenAI Sub-company most likely :(
That... is not gonna happen. The entire new framework of Windows laptops is built around Copilot.

I really hope for the latter. I despise "AI" and don't really want it forced upon me. The way things are going it sounds like that's exactly what the industry wants to do; shove this down everyone's throat.
Agree it’s bad enough the other companies are doing it but it makes me sick to my stomach Apple is going along with it

Translation is cool, definitely one of the AI things I’m most excited about. A lot of the other stuff feels a little bit gimmicky to me tbh.
I would love to have an iOS feature to be able to turn on translation for an entire app. Because…. as an American living abroad, sometimes you need to download local apps which are not in English…. It’s such a pain in the butt!! It would be awesome if you could tell iOS to translate the entire app into English continuously. ♥️

[Consumer] AI and privacy are fundamentally at odds with one another. Apple needs to figure out how to balance the two since their marketing hinges on privacy. They aren’t going to do a “j/k!” on that!

Man, with other tech companies pulling out AI magic at every big event, at this point WWDC is either going to be mind-blowingly amazing... or a massive disappointment if Apple turns out to be behind the curve on AI again.

I really hope for the former. 🤞
There is so much hype around "AI" that there is no way that Apple can meet it. (The companies doing the hyping also can't meet their own marketing expectations, but that fact will be conveniently overlooked.)

Apple should ignore the hype and instead use the tech to improve basic functions like Siri, dictation, and autocorrection. And if they can find other specific tasks that users do and apply LLM to them, they might manage something more useful day to day than the companies who throw AI at everything to see what sticks.

But I guess a sensible approach wouldn't help their stock price. (Oh wait, they can just announce more buybacks. Problem solved.)

They’ve been trying Windows on ARM for 15 years and still suck.
I don't think that's really true. They half-assedly tried it with Windows RT 12 years ago, half-assedly tried it again with a single product (Surface Pro X) in 2022, and haven't really done anything other than that.

This has widespread industry support out of the gate, and major apps like Chrome and Spotify have begun releasing ARM versions of their software in the last 2 years.

The keyboard is really interesting that Microsoft released….which is something we need from Apple...a combined Magic Keyboard + Trackpad that can connect to anything (Mac, iPad, Vision Pro, etc…)

A Surface Pro with all day battery life is the holy grail in my opinion. I am hopeful. I've always loved Surface hardware but the Intel chips of the past held the machines back.
