This is something I really wish they’d add to Safari. Heck, I’d like a per-tab button on the browser’s toolbar, to suspend that tab. And a preference setting for whether tabs started in the background start suspended. i frequently have a lot of tabs open that I want to keep open for context (research for various projects and such), that I absolutely do not want sucking up processor cycles. Safari would be much more efficient with such a feature.
If this is like what they do on iOS - I hate it. Nothing is as fun as reloading tabs.

Would be nice if you can disable the Telemetry data uploading to Microsoft in Edge.

So trying Edge out on my M1 vs. Safari seems to give Edge the definite edge with page loading speed vs. Safari. Hopefully Apple can rectify this.

I keep seeing that you can “enable sleeping tabs in the browser settings menu”

Looking though the settings, I don’t see any mention of sleeping tabs.

The only place I’ve found sleeping tabs is under experiments- edge://flags

These flags carry over the inscrutable (idiotic) chromium style of “default|enabled|disabled” with almost everything set as “default”. Does anyone know with certainty what default means?

Update. If you navigate to edge://flags, set the "Enable Sleeping Tabs" experiment to Enabled, then restart Edge, you can then find Sleeping Tab settings under Settings -> System -> Save resources.

Native M1 version is still in development status. Will try once it goes release status since I need Chrome based browsers for my #1 requirement uBlock Origin addon, Stadia game streaming that doesn't work on Safari, etc.

Using in on work laptop. It is not half bad, but considering that majority of ultrabooks come with >=8GB of RAM, I have nothing against Chrome using my resources. But there is no way that lands on my private one.

Would like to know too if 'normal' edge is M1. On canary here on M1, but rather use a stable version.
