I love Safari for its performance and use it 99% of the time. It flies on my M1 mini, but I have a few websites for work that require a chromium browser- they simply don’t work with Safari. (Why everyone thinks Chrome is the standard continually eludes me.) Edge gives you a good experience and maintains compatibility with the websites I need without having to use Google services or their bloated and resource heavy browser. I’ll be downloading this one.

I personally find MS Edge superior to Safari when I'm doing web development (Safari still is quirky on a number of fronts, although Safari 14.x is a huge improvement); and, given the market dominance of Chromium-based browsers, you have to test stuff on one. MS Edge is great for that and comes without so many of Chrome's bad points. Just my two cents.

Let's see...

Faster
Uses far less memory with all the same tabs and extensions enabled (around 1/3 the total Chrome uses)
They stripped out all of Google's tracking services, using strictly the rendering engine
To that previous point, there's far more Privacy settings that are very easy to find, like Brave, to give more granular control
Has PlayReady DRM in addition to WideVine, so you can use it for more media sites
Tracking Prevention (like Safari) by default
And for those in an older Enterprise Corpo world... IE mode
Agree. Really like Edge too and it feels like I'm using a Mac app despite some of its graphical similarities with the Windows 10 version. 😮

Firefox runs well too, but it feels less native. I mean, white menus when right-clicking despite using dark mode and truncated pop-up menus à la… Windows. :)

For me Safari has become ie. While the iPhone version is unusable, it’s lack of Windows support makes it a non-starter. Meanwhile edge is fast, universal, and appears to be designed around each platform.

Edge is my daily driver on Mac for precisely these reasons. Love it.

I’m not with a Mac anymore but it’s my default browser on Windows 10-know it’s based on the same coding etc as Chrome but it hasn’t let me down so far.

Hard pass. Edge on Windows won't let you customize how a tab opens.. you're totally at the whim of Microshaft. You have to get a plugin to avoid seeing their propaganda.

What do you mean by how tabs open? The page you see when you open a new tab?

Edge is a great browser. It is the same rendering engine as Chrome, with the same compatibility as Chrome, without any of Google's add tracking. I would not sleep on it if you have not tried it. For sites like YouTube TV that simply do not work on Safari, ill use edge every time.
