Sorry, I didn’t even see this. You can have events that are over a year old of course but if you try and search for something more than a year old it will yield no results in the iOS version.I thought this was under Settings>Calendar>Sync>All of them? Or does it only go one year back with this selected?

It works in the Mac version. That’s why I threw iCal in the bin, (I use Fantastical on both platforms now).
Signing up is the first step, followed by updating to the relevant version - 15.36. Sign up, reboot, run the Microsoft AutoUpdate app, and see if you get the latest version offered as a download.I turned on Office insider fast on an outlook 2016 on Mac, and i do not see the Google calendars and contact still there. Does anyone have this problem as well?

Signing up is not necessarily an automatic path to the Fast Ring, and MS's updates on the Fast Ring are not pushed simultaneously - read their TOS, it's in there. You may get updates pushed first, or last…
FWIW, I have Outlook synched to my "junk" Gmail account, and it works pretty much perfectly (labels, contacts, calendar). Not impressed enough to start using Gmail for anything important, tho'.
I am a bit confused as to how it works by syncing with microsoft cloud. Do i need to have Exchange Online service with microsoft? or does it simply mean i need an office 365 software subscription for outlook?
thank you
Select Outlook 2016 for Mac users who are part of the Insider Fast program and have an Office 365 subscription will be the first to try this new feature. It will be rolled out to all users worldwide later this year.
wingkchan, you answered your own questions via that link! Do take the time to read it - a free Outlook.com account will suffice. Outlook.com (Outlook Cloud Services) provides an "engine" to facilitate this - I use an Outlook Cloud Services email address for my Windows 10 install, and it works just fine with that Outlook.com account and a Gmail account in Outlook 2016.---
Thanks Campguy for sharing your input. I was able to set it up on outlook 2016 for Mac (licensed). However, it synced the calendar and contacts on the initial sync. It doesn't seem to update afterward on the changes I made. i then read this article that it requires Office365 subscription.
