Loys Notes anyone?

You who have not been forced to use Lotus Notes - shut the eff up! Outlook is by far the best corporate email client out there. Glad to see the update!

Windows live People won't sync

I have added an Outlook.com email address, and still can't sync any contacts. They show up on the web, through People, but just won't sync with the new Outlook.

I wanted to like the new Outlook, but am having many problems. No iCloud integration. Nothing syncs. Even aliases won't work right.

I rebuilt the main identity and also created a new one. Still not recognized.

Hi Denno,

Could you please select the identity folder under Microsoft User Data folder to import. The default location for 2011 identity is ~\Documents\Microsoft User Data\Office 2011 Identities\Main Identity.
Note that you could have replaced the identity name from "Main Identity" to a name of your choice.

Also the one reason that it might say "data not found" is if the identity that you have for 2011 is corrupt. In that case rebuild the 2011 identity with 2011 Outlook and then try importing.

Signatures?

Have updated, no regrets. UI is fresher, mail now pushes from Exchange with no delays. Only problem is it's zapped my signatures. Anyone know if/how I can retrieve them?

Uh...go to your SENT ITEMS and pick an email with your signature and copy the signature part and paste it into a new signature?

I try to avoid MS Office as much as I can. Unfortunately people send here and there some of their files and I have a 2011 app to open it but I hate using it.
Outlook was OK but once I switched to Mail, I never looked back.

I haven't used Mail on OS X in years.... Is it a better fit for a corporate Exchange server than Outlook 2011 (which I'm currently using)?

I've had so many issues with IMAP on Apple Mail and sadly they don't seem to give a (bleep) about fixing it. So as much as I hate to do it, it might be time to go back to Outlook

Outlook.com is not supported for anything other than Mail in Outlook for Mac. Outlook for Mac doesn't support ActiveSync which is what Outlook.com uses, it only supports EWS which you only get with Exchange.

Our company upgraded from Windoz Office 2007 to 2013 last month. I HATE, HATE, HATE it, as does everyone else in the company. I sure hope the Mac version isn't anything like the Windoz version. Everyone here only talks about how it looks. Who the heck cares how it looks! It's how it operates that everyone hates.

Can somebody help me get a copy of THAT OS? I've used Windows, but not Windoz.

As for "the problem is how it operates"... details?

can anyone tell me

anyone who has used it already - can you clarify if it can

- Access Mac Address Book (and/or sync with iCloud or CardDav address books)
- Access Mac Calendar (and/or sync with iCloud or CalDav)
- Utilize a Quick Archive button
- Sync Calendars and Contacts with Outlook.com accounts as if they are exchange? (Outlook 2013 for PC added this function, but Outlook 2011 does not support it)

if we just bought Office 365 and have used 2 mac's with the subscription what happens when I delete my current version? As well, instructions say move current Outlook to trash which when I do the shortcut bounces back to me, so I have to "remove" it first, is this correct, then move the application Outlook icon by removing as well? Once done I do another install and it will take me to the new version? I worry about not getting it back..if I go to the automatic update in Outlook it does not offer anything, so would this still be available to me?

No to everything (but I am not sure about the quick archive button)

Never ran into issues? I'm a consultant, so I have an email box for every client. I just wonder if signatures are an issue. Also, when I work locally on some box (in a VM), i'm scared to have other emails visible on that comp.

I was going to write.. "no", but then saw your signature. In which case, yes... for you...

As a consultant in your work, I DO NOT think this would be a great solution for you.

Wtf? We seriously can't use the new outlook if we work for a big corp that has their own exchange servers??

THIS IS ABSURD

It'll work, but the company will have to pay for a 365 subscription for each user as well. That's a great way to keep customers, by charging them twice to use the same services.

----------

It does work with on premise exchange servers. We run a hybrid environment and it's working fine.

----------

If you use online archiving you will want to switch. Finally works with this but has never worked with any Mac solution.

Except that you have to pay for the on-premise license as well as a 365 license for each user.

Outlook is not. Been using Notes since 1999. Yes, the UI is clunky but it works and supports pretty much every platform out there with feature parity. We run our infrastructire on Linux, clients on Windows, Mac, and Linux and all have the exact same experience and feature parity. Can't say that for the garbage that is Outlook and Exchange!

Exchange has more than 75% market share worldwide, so this "garbage" cannot be that bad. What is IBM doing to make Notes/Domino better? Nothing!

Most of my customers are coming from Notes and we migrate them to Exchange.
