Basic economics...

First Apple built computers. They were big expensive boxes, then the made phones. These were cheaper and smaller and next wil be watches. They will be cheaper and smaller than phones

At each step downward the number of units sold goes up dramatically. Apple will follow the numbers but, I as a customer would prefer to see Apple smaller and go back to serving creative professionals

Every time they go after more unit sales they dumb down and cheapen the product. Notice the move to glossy screens.

Expect in 10 years the "smart earring"

Or just dirt. It's cheap and dumb; therefore, Apple will sell it and make billions?

I like the concept of a smart watch but if i had to buy i would hardly use apart from looking at the time and maybe for fitness. There are so many gadgets i carry around on my travels like my iPhone, Ipad and Macbook, where can you fit the time to use them all.

and all of them will wait until Apple release their smartwatch.. (you know what i mean)

copy quick copy quick

I shall hazard a prediction. Apple won't make a smart watch.

People want bigger, not smaller screens. Who is gonna hold your watch up to your face to make a call? If the iWatch won't make calls, and you need smartphone, why need 2 smart things on your body?

It shall join notable hardware flops:
iWatch
Touchscreen desktops (next are touchscreen TVs, configure your remote by touching the screen!)
3D TV
3D movies
Ultrabooks, internet PCs
Zune
Windows Phones
iRing

Lets b(r)ing out that magnifying glass

Hope Microsoft learnt their lesson from the Surface not selling well, since they admitted to that ...*ya like several *months* later*

i believe this will be in the same boat... Besides, for one, it have to look better.. rater than just " a piece of crap"

Seems, all these manufactures are slowly going down the "yellow brick road"

Its a long road ahead too.. since this won't end.

we should start a rumor about apple developing holographic communication video device, and let other companies follow this lead :D

Serious why do Apple fans have this obsession with the blue screen of death? I haven't encountered one on Windows for years.

On topic, I just can't see any of these smart watches really being any more than a niche market.

Agreed, my Windows 7 and 8 machines are every bit as stable as my mac

SO tired of all the copycat carbon copy junk out there. cant companies be original?

Your right there should only be one company that makes computers, one company that makes cars, one company that makes watches, one company that makes phones, one company that makes TVs, one company that makes shoes, ......

You must have missed the part where Microsoft entered this arena more than 5 years ago.

It will have tiles

But still pressing windows+E takes you back to the desktop you know and love!

I still can't tell if this whole smart watch thing is a joke or not.

Seriously, WHAT is the point of a watch being "smart"? Who in their right mind is even asking for such a device?

[With rumors of an Apple smart watch ramping up over the past few months, a number of other companies have also reportedly been working on their own projects involving watches and other wearable devices.

Those companies just take Apple's original ideas and copy them. Nobody even thought of a smartwatch until Apple did!

Its not FAIR!

But the folks who own and manage Apple would rather see Apple make gobs of profits.

My suggestion: Form a 501(c)(3) charitable organization which is small and serves creative professionals. No giant megacorporation like Apple wants to fund money-losing projects, but a nonprofit could do exactly that. Giant corporations like Apple exist to make money, and not to "serve" anybody except the Hedge Funds.

Seriously. Apple has got to stop copying companies like Casio and Pebble!

I think what happened to Nokia and Blackberry was seared into the minds of all tech ceo's and they're super paranoid about new products, especially from Apple. Funny thing is, only Apple has the clout and follow through to invent new tech product categories, even if they didn't technically invent the tech.
