Screenshot with a very dark powerpoint slide makes it look ok. I'm sure with a word doc or spreadsheet, it is quite different. Not sure that dark mode would implement as well in Excel.

Yes! Finally! I'm updating 16.19 to 16.20 right now. Office 2019 with dark mode is going to be a lot more fun to use now. Apple's iWork suite is a good product but nothing compares to Office. I've used OpenOffice, LibreOffice and nearly every suite you can think of and there's just nothing like the real deal. Worth every cent.

no love for Office 2016 :(

It had its time. They supported it for several years and still support it with security updates. I believe the latest version is 16.16.5 so it's not like they abandoned it!
[doublepost=1544580026][/doublepost]What happened with OneNote? No dark mode! I don't really care since the four main apps all have dark mode but I don't get why they wouldn't update OneNote as well.

The new "Icons" look beyond ridiculous. Like Microsoft fired all their designers and had some engineers put together some quick vector lines here and there to make icons in a hackathon.
Doesn't look like a production app from a billion dollar company employing 100s of designers. At all.

Dark mode is finally getting there.. Just a coincidence MR showed the Hubble telescope ? lol. Someone sure has a sense of humor.

Anyone else notice that lately, a majority of the headlines on Macrumors are not even about Apple products? Nothing interesting to report on Apple itself anymore?

Yay! I love Dark Mode. agree with those that find it to be on of the best UI updates in awhile. So much kinder to the eyes. And it does look a lot cooler as well. Kudo's to MS for getting this out so fast to the Apple world.

I had 2011, 2016 and 2019 on the machine (all one-time purchases). I started the update from 2019. 2016 was deleted and updated with 2019 (16.20), 2019 stayed on (16.19). Bad detail.

Am I the only one that simply don't see what is all the hype with dark mode?

No, I don't really see what the big deal is either. Glad they give users the option as so many seem happy/excited. But I personally like the traditional view.

Now I wouldn't mind trying a dark mode on iOS ...

Some of us are not fans of blinding white hitting our eyes.

Hell yeah! Now update the MS RDP app and I’m set.

When will they finally add in a permanent "Quick Connect" option where you can either enter host name or IP and just connect to a one off Server that you have to do some work on that doesn't have to be saved. It used to exist in the Office 2011 era of RDP and it's something I use quite frequently on Windows. It's there the very first time you launch after installing, or at least it was in some form of the beta version of RDP 10.

Do you mean the Toolbar icons and how they look simple and something from a bare-minimal Linux install from about a dozen years ago? I noticed that on Windows 10 and Office 365 while deploying new systems about a month back. That's when I knew it was the Office 2019 version and that the companie's E3 subscription was now rolling out via portal.office.com installs.

I was seriously confused the first time I opened dark theme word, for a moment I was completely unsure of what application was running. Really looks great, sadly office performance is still not quite there on mac...

on contrary, even though I paid for Office 365, I use only iWork apps. Pages and Keynote are tremendous pieces of software

So is it worth $2000 for me to get dark mode?

Apple dropped support for my perfectly capable 2011 MacBook Air to "incentivise" my upgrade path.

Gee I guess it is!

I love you Timmy, now I can give you more money for your fancy parties!

They dropped your Mac because it doesn’t support the new graphics stack they’re using. They’re depreciating OpenGL completely.

Just upgraded my Office 2019 apps. The major 3 - Word, Excel and Powerpoint - have dark mode. Secondary apps like OneNote seem to not support dark mode.

Thanks for this bit of info. I'm resisting O365 for various reasons. I'm (still) on Office 2016. Available Dark Mode might actually be a reason for me to upgrade to 2019 (although I JUST upgraded to 2016 this summer....yes, I'm slow, but I was very reluctant to upgrade Office for some reasons, mostly GUI changes - I'm a person of habit)

the future is now! but seriously, why can't apple enable dark mode on sunset? thankfully f.lux does it for me

I really do hope this will come natively eventually. I mean, NightShift can do it...

I'm using Nightowl. Except for Messges, which apparently doesn't like the change, it works perfectly.

stuck with 2011 here...:(

I bit the bullet this summer and upgraded to 2016 (also coming form 2011)....only to have 2019 announced a month later

Now if only websites would do it, too. Reading MacRumors (e.g) in DarkMode is still blinding ... Maybe I'm too "early 2000s", but to me it's surprising how many websites these days choose a extremely white color theme.

Yeah, I wish MacRumors was a little less blindingly white as well.

They dropped support for other reasons, and its still perfectly capable machine.
If you want the latest features they wont be back-ward compatible forever.

Users are confusing dark mode with incognito and perhaps even the dark web. Dark mode is more Apple marketing to justify sky-high prices.

I'm using Word 16.17 (from the Office 365). When I check for updates I'm told it's up to date. I'm wondering why I'm not getting this update?
