Just what I need. Something to make my iPad run insanely slow and hog the RAM.

PowerPoint is the worst thing that's ever happened to visual literacy.

Can we just have the ability to add fonts to iPad? That'd be great. Thanks.

PowerPoint is a standard in most business environments, and a great tool for getting its work done, unless the user puts in his/hers slideshow a plethora of transitions and special effects like a 16-year old high school cheerleader does.

If Microsoft made PowerPoint for iOS, that would be the ultimate presentation tool.

Apple should support or even make a Bluetooth (low energy) remote control for the iOS devices like the iPad and even the iPod touch and iPhone. That would be awesome for Keynote presentations. Something like this, but for iOS devices:

Keyspan Wireless Presentation Remote for Conferences, Boardrooms and Classrooms

Excel is IMHO one of the most important breakthrough in human productivity in the last decades. It is a totally amazing piece of software.

Yes and no. I can't refute the positive impact Excel has had and is a very powerful tool. With that being said, it's a totally amazing piece of software with some UI caveats: it's the only application where you can't drag the window from full screen in Win7 (why?!) and I very much dislike the ribbon, but the one that gets me the most is the how there is only one instance of Excel opened and it opens up each spreadsheet within that instance, windows in windows, drives me freakin' batty at work. I know you can change this behavior by hacking the registry, but really, I have to hack the registry (don't get me started on that) to get it to perform the way I want. Ugh...

I hope they don't price it that high. I don't think it's worth more than $9.99 an app. Especially because there are sure to be compatibility issues.

Really? I get minimum 35/hr doing my work in excel. I would gladly pay 80 so I can do the work on my iPad or iPhone when I need to. Sign me up. I don't know what you are doing w/ yours, but these are worth it for OFFICE apps.

It would be totally irresponsible for Microsoft to not create MS Office for tablets. They'll likely launch it at a very low cost and simple to use until it becomes the defacto standard, then fill it with bloat, complexity, and raise the price as they have done in the past.

There's a lot of money for MS to make with iOS Office, but they might want to keep it exclusive to Windows 8 for a competitive advantage.

Microsoft is basically a software company, so how would limiting its software distribution possibly be a 'competitive advantage'?

BTW, it was through their Office licensing with Apple that they were ultimately able to legally copy the Mac GUI to create Windows. I understand that the lawyers ruled that because of the way the contract was worded, the use of the GUI was not restricted to MS Office software. If that contract been worded as intended, there would never have been an MS Windows.

This has got to be killing Steve Balmer as he thought the iPad was, "well not something many people would buy." Nothing like eating a little bit of crow.

Not quite. Apple licensed its GUI concepts to Microsoft for use in Windows 1.0, not Office for the Mac.

For me this is a deal breaker for using the iPad at work. That is if it fully maintains formatting etc when editing documents created on a PC. To date the apps available cause me more problems.

I hear you. Heck, I have MS Office on my iMac and still have formatting issues when I take files from the iMac to my office laptop.

Not over their dead bodies it's not coming in November, ms won't shoot itself on the foot when they are selling office for enterprise and home via windows for arm and they are releasing them then...
