They already did... Two years before any Apple Store opened.

If I see this photo one more time I will send Steve Balmer after you!

I wonder if many of the Gurus at the Answer Bar are actually Mac users with several Macs at home, but fix PCs for a living. That's a job I actually wouldn't mind having. :)

Damn they even copied Apple's wall of iphone apps pic:

HPIM0961.jpg

If there really are millions of possibilities... why use the same image a hundred times? Maybe they're desperately trying to sell off those last few million remaining copies of Office 2007 before they have to stop selling it :p

That said, I think its a smart move from Microsoft, and although it lacks originality the Apple Stores are not exactly unique. The look and styles used a reminiscent of those seen in most major stores. GAP were doing the white walls, light wood look way back in the 90's!

This is merely a by product of MS's modus operandi - permutations are non-existent in a photocopier's world.

Wonder how much they paid their design teams for the non-original ideas? I can see it now....the art director dumps the poster layout on the graphic artists desk...graphic artist claims it's a copy of Apples poster...Art director says shut up and do it...because someone told the art director to do it. Graphic artist designs new (copycat) poster...on his/her MAC (of course), probably with a copy of Apple's poster on the desk for design reference. Brutal.

- yet typical.

Minus the customers.

What should we expect from a colossal case which houses cameras, infra red projectors, sensors, electronic engines, mechanical arms and moving parts,

powered by its current anemic specifications?:

Intel Core 2Duo @ 2.13GHz
2GB DDR2 RAM
250GB Sata Hard Drive

If that is anemic, then, by comparison, iPhone specs are positively DEAD:

600Mhz Arm
256Mb ram

Did you even THINK before you posted?.

Yes, anemic for its colossal size - I can hardly fit a Surface Table in my pocket. Ironically, the iPhone performs more smoothly and responsively than the 'Big A** Table.'

Think again, before making such generic accusations.

You're funny! :D

Its funny you should say that because I remember Windows XP looking like FisherPrice :p But of course I imagine you are being sarcastic.

Well, from a business perspective that's not such a bad approach. You let the little guy (Apple) do the research, take the risks. And you only copy the successes, not the failures. And if you can improve the original ideas of the little guy, then that's even better.

Most posters here think these corporations are all driven by good and evil rather than the almighty dollar. Apple is good, MSFT is evil. This is a mac-centric forum but it can go overboard at times.

Plus examples like hiring away Motorola's head of European, African and Middle East sales to run iPhone overseas sales.

Companies don't do things. Individuals do, and their experience often comes from elsewhere. They also tend to repeat themselves.

Agreed. Most corporations try to poach the best talent they can so their projects can hit the ground running. It's odd that individuals can be considered traitors when they are pursuing their profession. Get over the Apple love affair and see that this is possibly a good strategic move by MSFT. Now they can personally influence public opinion about their product.

????

I thought Microsoft already had a store? It's goes under anyone of these names, Best Buy, Circuit City, Fry's, Staples, Office Depot, Comp USA, the list goes on.
