I only use Copilot for my AI needs.
I only use Duckduckgo for my search needs.

As you can probably imagine, my day was ruined.

Now, I want to go to Popeyes. Damn you! 😆

my Ducks have failed to Go for a few hours now. I have to use *ugh* Google instead
As someone who cares increasingly about privacy, I had to throw the white flag down and just let Google have my data. How do you deal with no having business, restaurants, etc. at the top of results with hours, reviews, and other information. The month I gave DDG a try it felt very dated and not intuitive, like ask Jeeves compared to today’s Google. Google usually knows what you’re asking for and DDG didn’t for me.

Do you feel similar? And you just care more about the privacy? Or am I missing something.

I know what you mean, I tend to use DuckDuckGo for general search that is more static. I think it's not just the users own personal data, but Googles ability to pool billions of searches a day and use that algorithm to curate my own search results make it the best for any searches that are topical, location specific or really nuanced. So I always have a Google bookmark ready for anything DuckDuckGo fails to find.

For 99% of searches DuckDuckGo it's good enough for me though. Maybe I'm just basic.

Depends on your lifestyle.
I'm no web power user, and the many websites I use are all very well know (stuff that'd be found even with the crappiest search engines).
Been using duckduckgo for 9 years and I never felt like I missed any functionality.
Same thing with apple maps

Thanks MR for reporting this. I was about to go deep into troubleshooting my system and disable extrnsions one by one. Now I dont have to.
Of course first you should disable all of them to see if that fixes the issue. If it doesn’t, then no need to go through one by one.👍

Its running on Azure, well known as the worst cloud when it comes to reliability and security.. not too surprised. Fingers crossed Apple doesn't go all in on ChatGPT/MS, god only knows how bad it will be! Maybe let us pick (or not pick) our AI overlord like a browser!

Bing is the primary source for search results. So if Bing breaks, DuckDuckGo breaks.

Thanks for posting the link from Duck, Duck, Go! https://duckduckgo.com/duckduckgo-help-pages/results/sources/

Curious, I found it states this:

“Most of our search result pages feature one or more Instant Answers.
To deliver Instant Answers on specific topics, DuckDuckGo leverages many sources, including specialized sources like Sportradar and crowd-sourced sites like Wikipedia.
We also maintain our own crawler (DuckDuckBot) and many indexes to support our results.
Of course, we have more traditional links and images in our search results too, which we largely source from Bing. Our focus is synthesizing all these sources to create a superior search experience.”

As you can see, they state it's only the “more traditional links and images” that they “largely source“ from Bing, not their search results in general.

As worded, that's a big difference. It should mean that they could still provide their own crawler, Wikipedia, Sportradar, etc. results!

Of course, given that DDG went down with Bing, it suggests either they rely on it more than they state — or, that they made a decision to direct people to other search engines instead of showing more limited results.

I think it probably means their results pages won't load until the full results are available (i.e. including the traditional links), which could either be by design or could be a bug or oversight.

Was facing issue with Copilot yesterday. Glad to see that it has been fixed now.

My thread about DuckDuckGo not working with Firefox on my Mac ,has been deleted and i was sent to this forum. It is all working fine now.:)
