this will be so successful because I can't go to any other store and buy Windows
/rolls eyes/

Microsoft doesnt even sale hardware ??!?

(excluding xbox, peripherals etc...)

They should really focus on their "app store" equivalent.

Oh god, here we go.

They built one of the Microsoft Stores here in Mission Viejo, CA and it was so similar to the Apple store it was laughable. In fact it was so similar, that they renovated the Apple store that was about 5 stores down from the new Microsoft store a couple months later, so that it looked a lot different.

But Apple sells products....hardware...accessories.

Can you actually purchase a computer at a M$ store? Why would you? Seems like they are desperate to pay rent in order to show people how their software works....

Answer Desk's #1 answer?

Seeing that they have appointment openings for the entire day, I'm sure the "Answer Desk" job must be quite lonely.

http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Locations/scottsdale (See "Schedule An Appointment" for availability)

Lonely and boring. Their #1 answer is most likely "Just reboot."

And their #2 answer is undoubtedly "Just buy a new pee cee."

And their #3 answer surely is "Ummm, I have no idea where iPads are sold..."

Microsoft is trying to open a Colorado store in Wyoming..

Maybe they should use Google maps instead of Bing maps.

Awe

How cute!! Microsoft is getting desperate and trying to push their garbage OS. What they NEED to be doing is actually spending that time, money, and energy into fixing the issues in their current OS to make an even more awesome OS.

:apple:

The ones in So Cal don't seem to attract any traffic despite being larger and in better locations than the Apple stores. So few people even bother to use it as a free internet cafe let alone try to buy something.

Geeesh, people, so many fanboy responses...

The one by me is awesome, and the people on staff are nicer and more knowledgeable than the staff at the Apple Store...

Funny, I bought an awesome netbook (ATI chips, 11.6" screen, Win 7 Home with actual laptop specs) over Christmas for $199 from them. MS takes out the manufacturer's build and replaced it with their own, with free MS Anti-Virus, Spyware, etc... No problems with it whatsoever.

A better deal than Apple's MacBook Air for $999...

Then there's all the fun XBox stuff that's set up.

A much better experience than the Apple Store for me...

A lot of people buying stuff, especially XBox 360's, games, laptops, cell phones, and PC Software...

Yes, Sheridan, Wyoming. The silcon hub of the Northern Rockies. And they misplaced the OKC flag, unless they're shooting for Lawton, OK. Man is Microsoft a total out-of-touch mess. Like a blind giant getting tired taking big swings at nothing.

Microsoft Literally can't find itself on a map...

The Store they show in Wyoming is actually in Colorado. Clicking through to the original story shows that particular flag in Wyoming, but labeled as being in Colorado!

I hope this makes Windows Users feel confident.

I've been to the MS store at the Mall of America a couple times. It is directly across the hall from the Apple Store. I thought it was nice enough.

I didn't buy anything. Anything I could buy there, I could also buy from Amazon tax free. The only reason I ever buy anything at the Apple Store is when I want it on release day. Which is pretty much every Apple product. :)

So evidently ...

So I guess the tens of thousands of retail stores already selling MS stuff are insufficient, inadequate and not doing the job ...

Ballmer needs his head examined.

Yes, we need more (I see by the time I clicked reply you musta edited).

I'm not sure the tourists will be in such a rush to go to the MS store like they seem to do at the Apple stores! LOL!!

Yeah ... what I originally said that we needed more retail stores in FL! lol

Could work if they were original....

My first thought was, "Who's going to go there to buy a computer." Then I realized they do have a couple of good products. XBox, Windows Phones, Office. If they were original enough to capitalize on these products and not focus on computers, they could make a go of it, but I seriously doubt it will happen. Microsoft just doesn't have the marketing savvy of Apple and since Gates left, their leadership has no direction.

Then there's all the fun XBox stuff that's set up.

Right, like when Halo: Reach came out they had the huge projector wall in the back completely covered with the Halo: Reach banner but you couldn't even play it because it was rated M.

I was thinking "cool something to make me want to go into the Copysoft store". But then when I got back there Halo was not part of the library. So why did they have the giant poster on the wall?????

I've only had terrible experiences with the "Genius Bar." I brought my iMac there because the hard drive had failed after about a year of use and they spent about 3 hours trying to diagnose the problem. Then they wanted $400 dollars to replace a 250GB harddrive. That was the last time I went to the Apple Store for anything other than just killing time at the mall.

Good look with the Windows Store. I would love to see another computer store here in Richmond.

I feel your pain. I usually don't go to the genius bar because Apple never claimed to be cheap, even in repairs, but there was one instance where they did surprise me.

The battery in my MacBook Pro 17" began to show signs of the expanding battery problem. My laptop was out of warranty by a couple of years so I just let it go. It eventually expanded to the point of separating the battery case into pieces. It basically opened the sealed case. I brought the battery in to the Genius Bar and the guy gave me a replacement battery free of charge.

I was happily surprised.
