Btw, quoting from that great roughly drafted link posted earlier (and you should all read roughly drafted):

No, we shouldn't. It's usually composed of circular logic and fanboy junk.

In this case, you should really note the date of the article. January 2007. And its purpose:

It was an attempt to excuse the iPhone from having ANY THIRD PARTY APPS, on the incredible basis that third party apps could offer nothing of value over what Apple included stock.

Ironically, it made fun of finding oddball junk like "Ghost finder" apps... not knowing, of course, that Fart apps would become the similar future for the iPhone.

READ IT, THIS IS ALL LAUGH OUT LOUD FUNNY STAFF AND SO TRUE...UNLIKE WHAT THE HANDJOB GUYS WOULD HAVE US BELIEVE. HERE'S WHAT THE GREAT WIN ME AND HANDJOB HAVE BEEN SELLING: "Close button that really closes, etc." APP, YEAH YOU READ IT RIGHT AN APP USED TO ACTUALLY IMPLEMENT THE CLOSE BUTTON FUNCTIONALITY. GEE AND i WOULD OF THANK THAT MS WOULD HAVE FIGURED THIS OUT...

Uh huh. Kind of like the "backgrounder" apps that would be needed (but not allowed) for the iPhone.

And P.S., don't even get me started on Apple charging for stock apps on the iPod touch.

Er... I'm not sure what to say about this. Other than the name of the website "roughly drafted" is pretty spot on.

Absurd software on Windows Mobile? What like 50 farting apps?

Overpriced software on Windows Mobile? The only reason why its so cheap on the iPhone is because the devs have to set their prices low to keep up with competition. If they could charge more and make money, they would.

Software that solves problems that shouldn't exist? Search the iPhone app store for "Free Memory"

Software that should have been in the phone to begin with? How about all the jailbreak apps that allow for copy/paste and MMS?

EDIT: I type slow because I'm working, sorry kdarling for basically repeating what you said.

What is even more amuzing is if Apple ever allows 3rd party background processes they too would have to offer some kind of task manager to ensure that applications can actually be closed(quited).

I am not gonna bother replying to any of you guys, cause you don't have any arguments to reply to. Suffice to quote these great apps for the priviledged win me user:
WorldMate Pro $75
"world clocks and weather forecasts, flight and travel information"

•Calculator: Revolutionary Calculator $30
Great stuff this handjob app store at win me...great, great stuff...

I'd appreciate it if you calmed down, or just ignore me in the future, the later being the easiest for both of us and for the benefit and civility of the thread.

I think you need to relax a bit.

Talk about overreacting... What in the world are you talking about? I'm extremely calm and relaxed.

I wasn't putting words in your mouth, just using your own very sensible logic to see how far you'd carry your argument.

You did put words in my mouth. You might not have meant it that way, but I can't read your mind (yet :D).

There'd be many products that would be innovative based on what you said and defined as innovative.

I didn't realize that there was anything special in the way I defined innovation. :) What part of what I said about innovation do you consider to be different than your or other people's definition?

ahahahahaha, that's probably the worst argument I have heard, ever, literarlly, period and no comment.:D:D:apple: Now go get your $75 win me world clocks and forecasts app form handjob.

If fact, the resurgence of Apple is based on a philosophy that includes ignoring the low end of the market. Why would any company oust their CEO after the best quarter in the history of the company?

I'm not asking Jobs be ousted, I'm asking him to step aside and let someone younger transition in. Jobs will be Apple until he passeson...

My phone is certainly not low-end nor is it targetted to the low-end. I'm just surprised that accessibility is no longer a focus for Jobs. I just feel that as apple reaches more people thay should find better solutions. BMW didn't say M-Series is the car that will please everyone.

With that said, Android is a lovely lovely mobile interface. And if I can choose the hardware, Google is the winner. There are plenty of great hardware makers out there, they just needed a good interface. Wow, 2 min to respond via my G1, gotta appreciate physical keys!

Actually WorldMate Live is free, and has world clocks, weather forecasts, and flight/travel info.

And you can get free calculators for Windows Mobile.

And you can get calculators that cost money for the iPhone (can't find one that cost $30)... but when the iPhone App Store first came out you could get a picture of a gemstone for $999 so I think that pretty much trumps anything on your little list.

I don't have a Windows mobile phone, I have an iPhone. And as an iPhone app store developer, I don't see how that is a bad argument since it has been made OVER and OVER and OVER again since the App Store opened. Have you been living under a rock for the past year?

YOU CAN GET FREE CALCULATORS WITH WIN ME? IS IT LIKE THE VISTA CALCULATOR, INCLUDED? THESE GUYS AT REDMOND ARE SO GALLANT!!!
David, you arguments or lack thereof I sinking to even lower depths, you have chosen the right platform in win me surely.

I am sorry david, I quit, ANY TAKERS TO RESPOND TO THE ABOVE QUOTES.

MS Zoon will soon die-its sales have been dismal-and why in the world would MS want to open a store especailly in this economy?
People will mill about the store looking at boxes of VISTA?

Apple is well established, so as this DEPRESSION deepens-they are safe.
They others-dead before they took off

And what an embarassment again:30GB Zunes Failing Everywhere, All At Once

Tss.ts.tst....what can you do with guys that can't program a year to year transition from 2008-2009...

I remember being able to download apps for my Palm long before there ever was an Apple app store. Apple was not the first one on the block for this sort of stuff.

I remember being able to carry my paper calendar and address book in my pocket before there was ever a Palm Pilot. What's your point? :)

I didn't realize that there was anything special in the way I defined innovation. :) What part of what I said about innovation do you consider to be different than your or other people's definition?

Nothing, which is why I said what I said.

Don't worry about the overreacting. I do that since I don't know the tone of anyone's post, so I just assume the worst.

There are 20,000 apps for Windows Mobile? I didn't even know there were 20,000 *users* of Windows Mobile.

Umm..20 000 doesn't necessarily mean 20 000 users. Microsoft could make like 100 apps and developpers can make like 5 apps each (my numbers aren't checked at all but it's an example).

When you think about it wasn't handango.com the first official mobile app store for Palm and WM devices? Heck I even remember having a their software installed on my old iPaq pocket pc dedvie.

What's your point? I hope you can see the difference between a store that sells apps and an integrated app store. I don't think anyone has claimed that Apple is the first company to create a store to sell mobile applications.
App Store: launch iTunes, buy app, download app, sync, app gets installed.
PalmGear: buy app, download app, launch Palm Desktop, sync, app gets installed.

Funny how Apple "invents" things that already existed. App stores for mobile devices are nothing new, Handango has been around since 1999.

Right. It'd be pretty cool if, like in the joke above, all mobile phone OS makers made certain code standard and allowed most apps programmed to be run on various types of phones. Or at least the soon to be big three (Symbian, WebOS, and Android).

The only company that would be completely against it would be of course, Apple.

Or Microsoft... (e.g. MPEG4, web standards, open cl to name some examples.)

Thanks for the correction on the language at uruguay, I suppose that makes your argument valid, you 'd think. As for windows mobile 20,000 apps you do seem like the win me type who'd go for, what's its name, handjob. We with apple at the app store will take the full service thank you very much.:D

Actually I was just stating facts, no argument intended. Btw I use the appstore too..

Actually they are shipping about 4-5 million windows mobile phones a quarter. Which isn't really too shabby.

App Store: launch iTunes, buy app, download app, sync, app gets installed.
PalmGear: buy app, download app, launch Palm Desktop, sync, app gets installed.

Do you think that purposely leaving out steps from the PalmGear process makes it easier?

App Store on Computer: 1) Launch iTunes 2) Buy and Download app with one click 3) Sync

App Store on iPhone: 1) Launch App Store 2) Buy and Download app

PalmGear: 1) Launch Web Browser 2) Navigate to PalmGear website 3) Buy app 4) Download app 5) Launch Palm Desktop 6) Install app in Palm Desktop 7) Sync 8) Maybe a serial number is needed, maybe not

There have been lots of other app stores before. For example Jamba! had one since 2004 or so. They are also "a bit" more successfull than Apple as they made already $600 million revenue in 2005...

Jamba! primarily sells ringtones. They are nowhere near as successful as Apple.
