I really love the Surface Book and we use them extensively at work. Literally everyone in the office has one apart from me. However, no one uses the touch screen functionality. We just wanted Windows computers from a reputable brand with good screens and the Surface Book hit the nail on the head. If it didn't have a touch screen, that would be fine. The fact the keyboard comes off is irrelevant. Honestly, we could just use Surface Laptops instead now but at this stage it's more a matter of whoever got a Surface Laptop would be the odd one out and the price difference is relatively negligible.

At the end of the day, Windows is just a terrible touch OS and OS X is in all likelihood a terrible touch OS too. To be honest, in my own personal experience, there have been many more times that I've wanted the ability to run an OSX app on my iPad Pro than I've wanted to be able to touch the screen of my MacBook Pro or my desktop macs.

Eww... they have INTEL inside Microsoft surface.

M1 Chip.. Don't have to say much more Microsoft. That's alone is a game changer.

Microsoft's Tablet business still exist?

Are they not aware of the M1 iPad Pro? Come on now...
Cool, a super fast M1 chip to run iOS (iPadOS) so you can play fart app games.

Surface comes with a useable OS so you can actually do work and play.

iPad is a glorified email machine and that's it until Apple wakes up and does something more.

M1 and macOS are the big differences. The Surface is nice if you are stuck needing to run Windows.

I've had a Surface 6, and X, and Laptop...I've used the touchscreen zero times on all three. I had a pen w/ both the 6 and X, and the pen is okay but nothing to write home about. I never used the USB port, and hate the idea that I have to have a special charging cable compatible vs just a USB-C. Everything else is meh, including Windows 10.

The lack of touchscreen on a laptop is beneficial as far as I am concerned. I’m about ready to break a few people’s wrists because they point to something on my computer screen at work and the cursor jumps to where they point.

The lack of ports is a valid criticism for most Apple products.

Given that young people prefer Apple devices over whatever else, I'm not surprised that MS is running ads featuring teens pointing out features that teens may prefer. Nothing else has worked from an ad perspective, so might as well try this, I suppose.

They’re not wrong ... regarding dongles. There is simply no excuse for any MacBook to not have a card reader and at least one USB-A port. Even Apple admits this mistake hence why such ports are returning in upcoming MacBook releases.
i'm curious what percentage of people would even use a card reader...

It does surprise (and annoy) me that they’re bringing back SD card instead of USB A. If they’re not going to do all 3, which they should, USB A and HDMI are the clear choices IMO.
seriously. i never used a card reader on my macbook pro, when i had one))) usb a i can go for though, for sure!
