Eww... they have INTEL inside Microsoft surface.

M1 Chip.. Don't have to say much more Microsoft. That's alone is a game changer.

Microsoft's Tablet business still exist?

Are they not aware of the M1 iPad Pro? Come on now...
I don’t get an advertisement that targets your competition

WTF, who edited this? why did they include the girl twitching her fingers at :025? MS is a billion dollar company and they can't even edit a stupid commercial.. Pathetic. Remember the vomit comercial MS did years back??
This is what happens with purple haired MBA's in charge of everything.

Macrumors really needs to stop it's obsession with other company's commercials.

did they make fun of how much faster the Macs are? those are some crazy underperforming surfaces

They are really pushing for that touchscreen feature. I had a touchscreen laptop before, I rarely used the touchscreen. I even deployed a few convertible laptops including a Surface Pro at work. Similar reports, so we decided to not buy any more of them.

I dislike these commercials more than I dislike the Surface Pro laptop by a wide margin.

Surface Pro would probably be a decent product if it did not have to run Windows.

Using a vertical touchscreen with those nails seems like it would be really hard.
Oh my gosh -- I had to re-watch to see her manicure. How can she say that she wants a touchscreen when she could not even use one? In order to get her fingernails out of the way of a laptop touch screen she would have to rest her palm on the glass.

If apple is only adding legacy ports to macs that cost more than $2,000 then is that really a feature worth bragging about? Just something a cheaper pc maker can use against Apple. Apple isn’t doing the consumer a favor by abandoning old ports. They could easily create their own hub with anything they can’t fit into a thin mac and include it built in to the power brick.
less ports equal less things that need support or repair or cost to add to the design. It saves them money while adding more work for the consumer who has to pay to replicate things others take for granted.

Yeah, sure. So why don’t we just batch develop a few RAWs, stitch panos, and do some comps and see which is faster... over a longer time... running silent... oh, wait... 🤣😂
Sure, let's compile some GCC code, use ffmpeg transcoding some videos from H265 to H264 and download/upload some clips from the NAS. All in the sametime. Oh, plus do some skype calls with camera on in the background.

I find it funny that these companies are comparing lack of dongles. Whether it’s Windows or Mac, I need 5 USB-C OR USB-A ports. Does the surface have 5 of either? No? Then I need a dongle regardless.

I had a couple of early integrated tablet/laptop Windows devices back in the early 2000s and while certainly hardware and software (they couldn't do much as I recall other than taking notes) have come a long way since then, I rarely ever used the tablet features once the novelty wore off. I suspect the same is true today. I even find that to be the case with my Ipad Pro when I have the magic keyboard attached except for scrolling.

I think the post you replied to was in response to you calling the iPad a "big iPhone". Not that the iPad was the exact workflow equivalent of a Surface.

I wonder how fast an iPad Pro with M1 compiles gcc code in emulation vs the latest Surface Pro. :) I guess if virtualization comes to iOS 15 it won't be much contest.

So have all of these fanboys (and fangirls) criticising the ad for comparing naming the macbook, suggesting they are desperate etc, forgotten the MASSIVE "I'm a Mac" and "I'm a PC" campaign by apple? Apple put so much money into it, here in the UK they hired two well known british actors to remake the ads.

I'm Mac user, but all of these things are valid criticisms to me. A touchscreen and USB would both make a new laptop much more attractive for me, and when my current faithful MBP gives up the ghost, I'm going to have to seriously consider whether I can justify staying with apple, and whether I can bare to part with iOS. Of course all of the fanboys/girls on these forums will buy their products no matter what, but customers like myself who see apple as a computer company and not a religion are the ones they actually need to win over.

You're in luck- all of Apple's current laptops have USB.
