I actually prefer Apple Mail to Entourage. It fits with the rest of OSX much better.

It's a shame that Outlook still isn't really Outlook though. They should make it work with Exchange 2003 as there are still a lot of companies still using 2003.

I like being able to selectively decide to remove specific messages from the server in Entourage and not just all that I delete from a given machine. I think this will go away in Outlook :(

As with MS there are too many versions. Outlook should be in all versions. Then I guess there'd only be two version.

Are you serious? Perhaps it's just me, but the Word icon for mac makes me want to kill myself. Really.

Really. What an intelligent and well thought out comment! Somehow I'm going to guess that you are not the "target user" for MS Office, or any productivity program for that matter.

Enjoy using programs whose icons don't "make you want to kill yourself".

So do you actually need to buy the family pack if you have multiple computers or can you use a single license on said computers? Just curiosity, I don't plan on buying it.

Question to all that have iWork and Office. Now I know iWork isn't feature heavy, but is it a valid replacement for Office? Can you give me the lowdown of what should and shouldn't be included?

Who cares, iWork is better!!!! :)

No, it's just different.

There are many things that iWork does very well, such as Keynote. The responsiveness of Pages is also very good. There are things related to Excel and Word that do not translate to any other productivity Suite.

Goodbye Entourage.

Thank God! Entourage sucks. Hard.

Hopefully Outlook is a little closer to the Office 2010 for Win version. I am not a diehard Outlook fan, but for business, it's a necessity when you've got an Exchange server.

Yes. People who have jobs tend to care about Microsoft.

Right on the money. iWork is toy, and Open Office is a bloated and semi-compatible pile of garbage. I'll be damned if I (and I doubt anyone who works for a living) would dare send off a spreadsheet to a client only to find that it doesn't open correctly.

Sorry Fanboys, in the real world it's MS Office or nothing. All this said, I hope this will finally replace my copy of Office for Mac 2004.

I've never used Entourage, so I don't know what other features could possible be needed.

Call me stupid, but what exactly does ActiveSync sync actively?

ActiveSync is actually one of the better things Microsoft has done.

It syncs contacts, mail, notes, calendar and todo items to any mobile device that supports it. It does this all pretty much live and I've seen email hit my iPhone before it's gone to my PC so sometimes it's more 'Active' than Microsoft's MAPI.

It's also better than BES or BIS just because it doesn't go through some crappy company's servers en route to the phone.

I've been using the beta of this and it's really good. Feels much faster and much more light weight than Office 2008, and the ribbon actually works pretty well once you get used to it. I've also been using Outlook as my primary mail client and like it a lot.

It's a shame the Outlook icon is so damn ugly!

Macros?

I really haven't been following Office 2011, but have they restored Macros?

I like iWork, and try to use it whenever I can just because it's cleaner and faster. It's a great viewer, and a great way to start a new document. But I don't dare send out its MS converted output without double checking it first.

MS Office is bloated, but sometimes you really need the features contained in the bloat.

Let's not even compare Excel and Numbers. Numbers is slick, but its limitations often make it useless.
