See other replies below yours - MS never really put as much effort into the Mac client as they did for the native Windows one (killing it off like this is blatant proof)Why would it be a good thing on Mac and not on Windows?
I use my MBP for work and it would be a huge pain in the ****** if Outlook went away.
It would be nice if they'd make up their mind for once and not completely change Outlook every 2-3 years.
Why is it so hard to make Outlook on Mac function like Outlook on Windows? No one wants this watered down web experience.
I use Outlook for my work mail. (And Mail.app for all other accounts.)
Has been a nice setup, and a fine way to keep personal and work stuff separated.
Now, if they swap the (reasonable) well performing MS Outlook.app with an Electron based one - like the train wreck that is MS Teams.app - I would have to find a new setup...![]()
Since this would be universal, it would make Outlook on Mac function exactly like Outlook on Windows. Why is it so hard to make Outlook on Mac function like Outlook on Windows? No one wants this watered down web experience.
i hear ya! i can photoshop anything blindfolded (well, without thinking about commands) on my MacBook air, but can't cut and paste art without re-imaging the canvas size to 1x1 pixel on a PC.This is something I never understood about Microsoft & Mac versions of Office. Why aren't they the same? Lots of cross platform apps manage it just fine.
The differences always pissed me off.
Is that the deal with Teams? I don't know much about "Electron-based," but I've sure wondered why Teams is so clunky, cumbersome, and, frankly, ugly compared to the other Office apps (say what you will about them). Now, if they swap the (reasonable) well performing MS Outlook.app with an Electron based one - like the train wreck that is MS Teams.app - I would have to find a new setup...![]()
Web app though does not have as much functionality as Windows client. So Windows user may end up with less functionality unless web app dev has moved on by 2022 to accommodate those features as well.Since this would be universal, it would make Outlook on Mac function exactly like Outlook on Windows.
Yep, teams in the browser is almost the same as the Teams desktop client as it just uses ElectronJS wrapper for desktop use.Is that the deal with Teams? i tried deleting my outlook account in November which (i think Microsoft) responded that my account was good for another year in December. I like that mail and interface but only have 1 contact.Glad I don't use Outlook. This would annoy me greatly if I did.
What?? I hope you're joking because that's a stupid idea and makes zero sense.Getting rid of the Mac version makes sense.........but replacing the Windows version (which I use daily) with something like this would be a disaster.
