I have been using the Microsoft 2008 Office suite since 2008 on my Mac Book Pro but since upgrading to Mojave WORD no longer works. The problem is when I am in Word and go to Page Setup in the File tab, Word just quits, shuts down and takes me back to my home screen.

Anybody else using Word experiencing this bug?

Is there a fix out there?

I would suggest Office 365. Granted it is a yearly subscription but the software is updated accordingly. I am using Word and the suite of Office programs in Mojave without issue. Software requirements have changed a lot in the last 10 years. If I am not mistaken all software after Mojave will need to be 64 bit to work in MacOS.

Your MS Office software is is close to 11 years old, be happy that it ran for so long. Solution: Upgrade to a newer version of MIS Office, get a free Office package, or downgrade your OS.

I got the same page setup windows when the upgrade was completed. It says word is not optimized for this version of macOS. However, it did not quit. and I can still use it normally.

P.S it is Office 2011 for Mac

I didn't want a subscription, so I went with Office 2016 (from 2011)
Nice upgrade.

my micro word and office stopped as well last year, Pages sucks! im using (and recommend) gedit on the macs and texteditor on the ipad

It was pretty widely reported that Office 2008 was unsupported on Mojave.

Pages can open and save MS Word files.
It syncs over iCloud, so you can start a document on your Mac and then finish ending it on an iPad.

Or, create a Virtual machine with Snow Leopard and install your Word 2008...that way, you wouldn't need to leave Mojave. I missed the ability to use the barcode above the delivery address in Word 2008.

As long as you don't use the same password for iCloud as you do for other accounts, your data is secure.

The only examples of people having iCloud accounts hacked is when they used the same password they used on less secure sites (that were hacked).

With iCloud Keychain, there really is no excuse for people to use the same email address and password on different services. Mojave even alerts you if you do have the same password stored in Keychain for multiple services.

Apple's two factor authentication is also more secure than most, since it doesn't rely on SMS to send users a code.

Interesting discussion, thanks. My conclusion is that I'll uninstall Word but keep the bits that do still work in case I need them later on, and use Pages for any letter - although I find it somewhat lacking as has been stated.
Cheers

Since you've probably gotten used to the MS Word interface, Pages can seem different at first. Here's a quick overview of some of the basics in Pages on Mac:

Exactly this.

I am using the same setup as well.

This is actually a really good solution. Are you doing this? Reason why I ask is because I've tried hard to visualize SL and I'm not getting any success.
