...SUCKS!

Don

Mods: Please don't hurt/eat/kill/ban me for my one word post:)

EDIT: Wait it's more then one word now

Yea, well I can look at porn all fricken day on my Macbook and STILL never worry about any weird stuff happening to OS X! So THERE!:D

Porn, by the way, is a HUGE part of the internet. If Microsoft made a 'responsible' OS, they would make one that wasn't endangered by something so obviously in demand and dangerous. But I guess that's Microsoft's deal - "We don't care how you wanna use your computer - we think think you'll like how we think you should use our computer..."

;)

I would say i have a legit excuse to put in my 2 cents on this forum...

i have a Dell XPS with OSX on one end, and Windows ..Mojave on the other..lol..it is actually VistaSP1....

for the "after" picture...here is how i will put it (keep in mind i am new to osx and am far more familiar with windows os than any mac or linux based os... like many others)

overall...speed- obviously osx, yet it does lag occasionally.
control- osx.. once again
media combatibilty- vista
ease and comfort- vista
startup - osx... By a VERY large margin

as for the time i spend on each side .. i would say i am on osx 3/4 of the time and the other 1/4 i am doing only things that i feel far more comortable doing on windows... FOR NOW*

point is...

i have worked with xp for 10 years, and vista since the week it came out.. and osx for months

i have spent time with them all, and at the end of the day.. mojave or not

OSX is BOSS... it just dominates..and anybody who wants to flame me (you secret mojave lovers out there) ..make my day..but apple has windows by the balls

good day ;]
XP has not been out for 10 years!

I am a responsible adult user who never finds the need to view porn sites or download anything I do not need so maybe this has something to do with my Vista experience being such a good one.

Porn isn't irresponsible. It's enjoyable.

Look, I'm sure there are many excellent reasons why OS X is better than Vista, but making strawman arguments like "Vista is plagued with viruses" or "Vista is constantly freezing" are not a good way to convince people, because most people don't have these sorts of issues.

Actually, when I installed Vista on my xMac* it was very slow and buggy, I installed all the updates, including SP1, and found it was still very slow, far slower than leopard, and leopard wasn't actually designed to run on the xMacs hardware....

I'm sure if Microsoft stopped putting millions into advertising and invested that into upping Vistas performance, sales would pick up....

*(A Hackintosh that I built)

I watched a few of those videos, never once seeing what was on the screens. I wonder if they were showing them Mac OS or Linux and claiming it to be Vista.

edit: curses! someone beat me to it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Apple doesn't show their OS, prior to product launch, either.

I've heard great things about "Microsoft Windows 7" from a Microsoft developer (secretly uses OS X at home :D). Sure, he works for the enemy, but he was the first to tell me to stay away from Vista for at least 2-3yrs while other software companies catch up to Vista requirements. I'm kind of excited to see it. Microsoft hasn't had any real competition since the 80/90s - only good things can come of this.

You're wrong. Apple showed off Leopard like a year before it was launched. Microsoft also shows off their products before launch and Mojave is Vista. Mojave isn't anything new. You really have no idea what this thread is about, do you?

My apologies - assumed they were talking about Windows 7.

I would have paid more attention had I known the thread was actively monitored by Nazis. Sheesh.

i saw this ad on hulu dot com the other day and i was confused. i consider myself artsy and this was even too weird for my sensibilities. it's as if MS is self-projecting that they've f**ked up and the only way to fix it is to use a different name, make it into a commercial, using actors to pretend that the whole thing (f**cking up vista) is a dream/illusion turned bad commercial and after the self-therapy session, as if by magic, vista is somehow better. "not as bad as they thought it was." if only people didn't have to wake up and use their vista pc's.

i like the apple commercial better because it makes more sense. two people are talking just like how macs can "talk" to both apple and windows. it's a converstion as opposed to MS mind-f**k.

just my 2 cents.

ps - i don't wanna get into this whole os war b/c i think it's stupid. use what you got. i personally got a mac b/c of what i do (final cut pro) but i also applaud apple in a way that they make their products industrial-looking to reflect that niche market that they are catering. just through design, apple made their computers look less like a "computer" and more like a tool, like a pen or pencil is a tool. i'll bet a very pricey tool but worth every penny.

I do agree with some previous posters that it wasn't right to have MS lie to some customers. However, despite the people being surveyed commenting about how pretty it looked, think of all of the parents/grandparents/non-L337 people out there who boot their computer up solely to play a couple rounds of Minesweeper or Solitaire. And some people don't like change.

I just updated my mom's newer Vista machine - which she wants to sell now - and I could not find anything wrong with it, despite all of her complaints. Yes, there are a lot of security pop-up windows, but its to make sure base-level users don't fill their machines up with viruses and worms. Media Player is fantastic! I really like the interface that MS developed for Vista, and I would probably use Vista Home Premium for an HTPC.

Granted, I absolutely love my Mac and will probably continue to use Mac for my own personal machine, but Vista isn't bad.

Windows Mojave......
The style of the mojave ad is suspiciously similar to the pizza hut ad i've been seeing on tv lately.......you know the chef walks into the dining room of the restaurant and declares, "I didn't make this pasta....it was delivered by pizza hut."
Then everyone stands up and cheers.
YEAH RIGHT.
Does Micro$oft really think this commercial is going to convince anyone?
I have a vista laptop. Then i bought a Macbook. Can't remember where i put that vista laptop, though........oh well.

My favorite part of that commercial is the voice-over: "New Yorkers know pasta...."

Apparently not because they just got conned by Pizza Hut.

XP has not been out for 10 years!

Technically no. But I personally HAVE used XP for about 10 years. We had access to the early adopter/beta programs with our MSDN subscriptions. Even though release wise it's been out for about 8 years, the last company I was with, we started playing with application compatibility for about 10 years.

So yes, your correct, xp release wise has only been out for about 8 years, but some people have had access to it prior to that.

i dont understand why people hate vista so much.
i think its because people dont know how to work with it. I have lots of expirence with vista as a computer tech for people. THere are ways to make vista act more like xp and become actually useful. people are just to stubborn to try something new and work with it.
the only grunt i have with it is the pc setup requirements thats all.

it is useful!
i use it in many ways. with no problems. i dont fiddle around with it. but there are ways to do so.
vista isnt bad as every one says. microsoft just didnt put enough effort into it. but it isnt bad.
i think of vista as xp on steroids! :p

you just said that there are things you need to do to make it act more like XP to become actually useful. I'm saying in it's raw form it's useful.
