This looks to be either a faulty logic board or graphics card issue. I would recommend taking it in for service.
I am new to Mac I just got a Macbook Pro 13" for fathers day in June. Two things that I have been noticing is the start up seems to be a bit longer and sometimes when I got to the Top Site page the screen glitches with pixelated lines for a split second. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and what I should do.
Macbook Pro 13" info:
2.7GHz dual-core
Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz
500GB 5400-rpm1
Intel HD Graphics 3000
I have been having the same issue since I got my MBP last year. I have the 3 yr Apple Care plan and just brought my system in to be checked a couple weeks ago. Genius Bar recommended the logic board be replaced which was done last week. I picked my computer up yesterday, got it home, turned it on and still have the same issue! I will be taking it back to the Apple store next weekend. I believe the issue is the old i5 and i7 chips that were used in last year's 15 and 17 in MBP models which I think a may be being used in the 13 in MBP for 2011.
So I went to the Apple store yesterday. They did a completely wipe of my system and then installed Lion (instead of Snow Leopard) which I was using and my computer has been perfect since! Not one graphics glitch at all. Now, I'll just have to see if it stays this way but I'm pretty psyched right now!
Sorry for the bump, but same problem over here.
The thing is I already had my logic board replaced twice and I should have the fixed logic boards, but recently my integrated card is the one causing distorted graphics. When I force discrete, everything goes back normal.
This doesn't happen all the time though and usually when I close the lid and open it again, I can use the Intel chip with no problem until the next restart.
Just started getting this issue now, running Mountain Lion 10.8. 2010 17" MacBook Pro. Same thing - IntelHD Graphics cause the screen to go haywire. Did anyone ever get a concrete solution to this? I've had the machine 2 years and never seen anything like it until now

Closing the lid also resolves it until I restart and the problem starts up again.
Come to think of it I never really restarted my Mac very much in 2 years. Though I've been shutting it down and restarting it more in the last week with Mountain Lion and not seen this until tonight.

I found some info from Apple:

Anyone think it relates to this?
Also, to confirm closing the lid resolves the issue until the next restart.
I think the reason I never noticed it in two years was because I never really restarted my Mac, just put it to sleep by closing the lid, so I have no idea how long this issue could have been going on for without realising it!
