So you can see the SSD in Disk Utility, can install OS X on it, but can't boot from it?

Can you see the disk in the list if you hold the Option/Alt key down while starting the computer?

If you manage to boot from the SSD, make sure the disk is selected in System Preferences > Startup Disk.

Yesterday evening and went and out and bought another MacBook pro mid 2012, put the Samsung ssd drive in and it detected it and formatted it fast and without issue
Installed the maverick OS X and it was updated to Yosemite 10.10.4 beta without any issues
Only downside I could t get the trim 3.3 to work, even before the beta?
Mbp is running and loading fast

I had emailed Samsung and sent them this link and they were prepared for me to rma the set, so to be fair Samsung support is great even if not needed in the end

Still not sure why the old mbp wouldn't detect the Samsung ssd though and apple tests said the mbp had no issues?

Thanks for the help guys another 1 for knowledge base

Apple's requirement of kext signing prevents using trim unless you make specific changes, trim explained all this when Yosemite came out and also that it violates apple's terms of licence.

trim working now i didn't update it to the 3.3 was still using 3.2.2
Happy to say still in love with the new mac :p

I have some extra questions....

I was wondering if you noticed anything else strange while you were having that issue with your SSD. I also have a Samsung SSD and have experinced more than a few strange things going on with my Mac Book Pro 2011.

Give me your example of what your probs were, mine was just being able to format the ssd and installing the drive, since swapping mac books i have had no problems, loving the speed of boot up better than it was on the 2009 model
