Well, according to Geekbench.

Psychologically speaking, there's no way I can spend that kind of money on one now. It'll have to be the Pro 2 with the A10+ chip for me.
No, the Pro badge is much more than just a CPU, also the A8X is slower than the A9 and iPad Air 2 are still going strong.

Pro level features mean 3.5mm jack, Quad Speaker, Drawing, Smart Connector, True Tone Display, Wide Color Gamut, Smart Keyboard, Fater CPU and GPU because it won't throttle to lower speeds based on cooling needs.

In Anycase you can consider the A9X an Overcolcked A10 because just try running those benchmarks when the A10 is hot and bothered.

A 5.5 inch Display and A10 CPU simply can not "Outperform" 9.7 Inch 2048x1536 Display. It's about the Expereince

I ran my own geek bench score on my iPad Pro and it was 3231 and 5481, which is about the very same as the iPhone 7. So it will vary between system to system
Did you run geekbench 4? GB4 is churning out multicore scores around 10% lower.

I'll have to check on that.

Edit: just ran to Geekbench score, you are right, my scores have dramatically been reduced.

I wonder what geek bench score version the iPhone 7 used?

Let's face it: Apple is absolutely rocking CPU design. I mean, damn, look at this rate of progress. And they just keep going. At this point any of their current gen mobile products are great buys from a horsepower standpoint. It's a beautiful thing. Jump in whenever - the water's fine.

iPhone ran GB 4.

I wouldn't say it's slower. How powerful is both GPU? How fast is the storage? And more importantly, how does RAM play into perceived speed between the two? There is more to speed than just a CPU.

It's a game of leapfrog. iPhones come out with faster processors than current iPads, then iPads come out that surpass the iPhones, and so on. The only people it bothers are the ones who have to have the the device with the best specs, but nothing is ever the best for more than a year, and it's gotten to the point that it really doesn't matter.
I get that and always look forward to progress. My belief, though, is that there should be a larger performance gap between iPads and iPhones. As it currently sits, the iPads are simply bigger iPhones a half cycle ahead of their little brothers. For a product you upgrade less often and is generally used for more productivity than a phone I'd like to see its performance further ahead of the iPhone. I'd also like to see greater tailoring in iOS for iPads but that's another story.

I don't disagree.
