The improvements I would like to see from the Xenforo switch are 100x100 square avatars for everyone and a more modern interface with some optimization for Retina displays. That's all :)

I think it is worth mentioning that as of now the new avatars will be circular. I don't know about anyone else, but I dislike that change.

Oh no, please not this again...

Both vBulletin and xenForo can be set to allow or disallow images in signatures. It was a policy decision made long ago not to allow them. Therefore, the policy is independent of which forum software is in use. I don't know if that decision is being reconsidered.

The software allows it, but I suspect that it'll be turned off to avoid distracting signatures.

Edit: Q, you're too fast :)

That is one thing, of several, that I've always liked about the MacRumors forums, no images allowed in the signature.

I've seen too many other forums that allow it and they're almost always very distracting and make it difficult to see the post itself.

And a jolly good decision it was, too, to my mind. Personally, I like a clean, uncluttered space on my screen. Some of the signature alone are distracting enough; adding images to them would serve to make them even more so.

And I feel this may be a good decision to stick with, some of the sigs that I see on other forums can be disruptive.

Very distracting and rather disruptive, I should imagine.

I don't feel like signature banners are appropriate on a technology related forum. Perfectly fine with using them and seeing them in the music related forums I go on, but don't really want to see that here.

I don't care for the circular avatars either. It's not like it's going to be good for the server load as it'll just be an overlay. It's all aesthetics.

Yeah. I've seen signatures EXTREMELY huge and obnoxious. 60% of the page just those stupid signatures. Very difficult to find the content, all I saw was that crap.
That's one thing I like about this place. Small, subtle signatures that do what you need but aren't onboxious.

I'm close to opening up to anyone to look around... but in the meanwhile, can a few people who are really interested in testing the new system email me at

arn@normalkid.com

things are still in motion. I just want to make sure there aren't any major issues before opening it broader.
