I'm curious as to why Minecraft isn't running too well on my 15" 2012 MBP. I've tried both graphics processors, the integrated Intel 4000 and the discrete geForce 950, and both have framerate issues. There are framerate drops and the whole experience is just choppy. I have Mavericks, the latest version of Minecraft, and also the latest version of Java. I've toyed around with the settings in Minecraft but nothing really helps. Any ideas?

This is curious. It is running fine on my 2006(!) iMac running Snow Leopard. Perhaps you have things running in the background that shouldn't be or have things running in the background that have crashed and take up all of your cpu-time

You can check Activity Monitor (Go>Utilities Folder) and see how how much available memory you have.
