Yeah they probably will do 6GB RAM or (8GB for the anniversary edition.) Then again how many times has Apple just slipped by without adding RAM?
Again reinforced iPads will bend a bit less, but you still have a 12”-14” + long slab of super thin aluminum and glass, they will still have warping bend issues. My 6 never had a bend problem and the newer 6 and then 6S were not at all immune to bending. They just weren’t bent out of the box as much or from being in pockets. The other thing to take into account is that it’s a tiny device compared to one that is large enough than any amount of force on one side can bend it. I can’t think of Apple doing any kind of Magnesium or Steel iPad Pro, or something other than 7000 series aluminum (and 7000 aluminum isn’t like a 3x stronger material, it’s more rigid, but not invulnerable.)

There is no need to make the new iPad Pros bullet proof. They just need to make it somewhat stronger. Internal reinforcement at strategic points can accomplish that, with or without a change in the materials.

BTW, I'm not sure where you get the 12-14" long aluminum spec, cuz the 12.9" iPad Pro is 11" long. The 11" iPad Pro is only 9.75" long.

I love having both the 11” and 12,9” but I’m truly hoping no new iPads until 2020... I’m too weak to fight the temptation of getting the newer versions. .lol[

Thats what I’m hoping, if the new 10-year iPad comes with micro LED or something. an even beefier A13X, 6-8gb RAM, 7000 Aluminum, even better WiFi antennas... I’m in.

In have my doubts on the Micro-LED, yes on the processor, make it thicker so it does not bend!

How can I be so sure? I've got a "spidey-sense" about it. 😉 When most were claiming back in Jan/Feb 2018 that a new Mini was coming in March 2018, I said that it most likely wasn't going to happen... when the 2018 iPad was released in March 2018, rumors then shifted to June 2018. At that point I said that no new Mini would be announced in 2018 and that it would be March 2019 at the earliest. June '18 came and went, no new Mini. Rumors then shifted to Nov '18. I warned those who were waiting until Nov for a new mini that their wait would be in vain.


I'm not seeing a slow down in new iPad models.

Having said that, people shouldn't make a purchase decision based on what I say. I'm just explaining why I believe what I believe. 😀

The 9.7” iPad Pro was not a new iPad Pro. It isn’t 2015,2016,2017,2018 that a new iPad Pro has come out. There was an iPad Pro 12.9 in late 2015, then a new iPad Pro in mid 2017, and a new iPad Pro in late 2018.

So we are going to skip another year.

It is a very clear pattern that seems to be happening with the release of the iPad pros. And if you follow this pattern then we will see a new iPad Pro in 2020 around June.


The only reason apple released an iPad Pro in 2015, and then released one in 2016 was because there was only one size to choose from. Also, the 2016 iPad Pro had half of the ram at only 2GB vs the 2015 model having 4GB of ram. So if this is your type of upgrade then I dunno.


The 2017 iPad pros have a 18-19 month gap between the 2018 iPad pros. With new iPhones coming out, Apple isn’t even focused on pushing out a new iPad.

The iPad pros comes out every 18 months. Launch to launch. It Never fails. It has been that way since the very first iPad Pro in 2015.

Mid year to the late next year, mid year to the late next year.

Why would apple Rush the next iPad Pro? They have new phones coming. iPad is back burner.

June 2020 is when it will launch.

The pattern is still not set. Apple did A9X, A10X, but skipped A11X and went straight to A12X for the iPad Pros. So asked on that, p I’m guessing we won’t see immediately an iPad Pro this year, but next for maybe a brand new A14X. The multi core and GPU performance of the A12X is almost double of the A12, so imo Apple still has a headroom to skip the A13X for the A14X. Bigger jumps will also justify the premium pricing more than just a generation update.

I’m also guessing by the A14X, we will see some sort of an Ax powered Mac. Apple can revive the iBook brand and call it that. 🙂 So there’s iPad, and then there’s iBook.

The next iPad Pro will probably be 1.5TB. Depending on CPU performance and how much of an upgrade it really is. I may or may not upgrade from my 1TB 11” model. I’m excited to see what apples does with the top tier Gen 4 Pro’s though.

I don’t thinks so, OLED is too hinky with image retention and no refresh rate of 120hz. Micro-led has no problems OLED has... but would cost a ton.

Unless they start using LG, or license LG's tech. Different approach (RGBW vs pentile) but they do 120hz on their TVs. The problem is that they aren't setup for manufacturing small OLED screens. No idea if the power efficiency is the same.

13" is my maximum size for a portable iDevice, and like dazlicious said:

TL;DR version: I’m really impressed with the level of performance Apple has reached with the A series processors: I’d love to see the iPad Pro at least get a processor refresh on an annual cycle even if more major updates are 2+ years apart.

Because the last 2 generations (2nd and 3rd) were 16 (nearly 17?) months apart— I kinda lean towards there not being new iPad Pros this year.

That being said, Apple has managed to finally see growth in the iPad segment of their revenue, no? With iPhone sales plateauing and Apple seeing some growth in the iPad arena, perhaps they’ll update the iPad a bit more frequently.

This may be mostly wishful thinking on my part. Last year the iPad Pro’s update to the A13x followed the iPhone XS pretty closely; I’d really like to see the iPad Pro on that same annual cycle with A series chip updates rather than getting them 6 months later (or 6 months before a new A series processor drops). I wouldn’t mind a tic-toc style release schedule— one year is a spec bump, the next they could introduce a broader set of enhancements if they want.

I’m using a 2015 12.9 iPad Pro and I’m kind of itching to update— we’ll see what iOS 13 brings for the iPad. By most accounts, the iPad Pro hardware is incredible, its just the software holding it back.
