Yea over 10 hours is good what more do you expect. I run mine with the brightness down most of the time because it affects my eyes so I have always gotten around 12 hours. The iPad pro I was getting closer to 24. It was quite amazing. I'll be happy with 12 on the mini.

is it just me or the mini 4 draining 1% per minute? Wtf this is ridiculous.

Definitely just you.

This is my first cycle too... I have 2.25 hours for 20% and 11hr standby... Am I being paranoid or does this battery life sucks?

As the others said, give it several charge cycles. The % indicator isn't terribly accurate under the best of circumstances and fresh out of the box it needs some time to calibrate.

So I'm basically just about 9hrs battery life from full charge with my current rate. FML

For the OP (or anyone else who's interested), I ran across a very interesting app in a thread on the iPP several weeks ago. It gives some interesting battery information, including charge rate (if charging), actual charge vs. reported charge, actual capacity vs. nominal capacity, and number of charge cycles. It is a paid app but I thought it was worth buying. I have no connection at all to the developer.

Wow drama much?

Battery life that keeps up with yours.
The A8 chip isn’t just powerful, it’s also power efficient. With up to 10 hours of battery life, it can handle work, play, and everything in between.* And thanks to advancements in iOS 9, iPad mini 4 can make that power last even longer.

UP TO 10 hours is what Apple quotes for iPads (ROUGHLY depends on standby time as 10 hours is the usage time)

You used 57% (43% left) to get exactly 5.5 hours of usage. Do some simple algebra/ratios to calculate using 100% and you get 9.7 hours (57 over 5.5 equals 100 over x; solve for x). 9.7 hours is almost IDENTICAL to what Apple quotes.

Thanks buddy

I'm actually curious now. How's it looking today? Did you run it all the way down? How many hours did you get?

Still trying to kill it all the way down.

Still on pace for about 9 hours usage with nearly 2 days of standby. Not bad. Certainly doesn't appear defective. Facebook is known to be a battery hog. Tap on it to see the details and I bet you'll see a fair amount of background run time. It's a known issue.

Ok man thanks for easing

EVERYONE POST YOUR BATTERY LIFE BECAUSE MINE SUCKS AND I CAN'T POSSIBLY JUST ASK YOUR OPINION OF MY BATTERY LIFE AND EVEN IF I DO AND YOU SAY IT'S OK I'M STILL GOING TO FREAK OUT. SO EVERYONE JUST POST YOUR BATTERY LIFE EVEN IF IT DOESN'T CHANGE MINE. MKAY?

Supposedly the 4 is better

Is it? (That's a question, not picking an argument.) I had (still have, actually) a 2 as well as the 4 and I'd say they are about the same, though I've never tested it. My Air 2 gets noticeably worse battery life than the Air I had before.

How's it doing?

I finally charge cycled it once all the way to zero. It actually finally charged while it was plugged in my computer. First day it didn't charge at all but it drained while plugged to the pc. Weird.

Granted this is very limited light usage given I use my mini 4 for work and when out and about

Some USB ports are wonky, and IIRC on some computers some of the USB ports either don't supply any charging voltage or supply less current. Having said that, I know from experience that even the lowly iPhone charger will charge the retina Minis (including the 4), though not terribly quickly.

Some PC USB ports can't provide enough power to charge a tablet if it's using a lot of power itself, and like I said, when fresh out the box, the device may be doing a lot of setup stuff in the background and thus draining power quickly. Bottom line: use the charger.
