Is the UI somehow smaller than the 7.9” mini’s? UI and apps look great on my 5th generation mini.

Personally, not a fan of the iPadOS 15 home screen.

8.3" app UI is okay in landscape. However, in portrait mode, sometimes the sidebar is wider than the content area and it looks stupid.

I returned mine as well. The UI is so poorly optimized, everything is too small or just weirdly cramped. The messages app is hilariously bad in this way. I also felt it a bit too small for pencil note taking and pdf reading/ annotating. Finally, I miss the 120hz and screen brightness. It was wonderful to carry, less than wonderful to actually use.

Exactly. Any messaging app in portrait mode has a poor UI. The two columns are so narrow it’s barely useable.

I just picked up the Mini 6 yesterday and haven’t been able to play with it much, but it is much easier to use in bed watching TV vs my 11Pro with Magic Keyboard. My daughter has a Mini 5 so I will compare them. She had my old 10.5 Pro and never used it but uses her Mini all the time.

The portrait mode of the mini 6 has a slightly narrower resolution compared to the mini 5, so if you happen on web content where the author selected an odd font/size not supported, text might not scale or wrap properly based on the layout of the page it is limited to.

5 = 2048‑by‑1536 resolution at 326 ppi
6 = 2266‑by‑1488 resolution at 326 ppi

Kept it. It has it’s own function as a 2nd ipad companion to my 12.9“ 3rd gen iPad Pro. The big screen of the big iPad is nice to have and this is meant to be a shrunken down portable version of that. It’s convenient to have when using 2 apps, or when using one as a reference monitor of a google pics search for something I am drawing on the other tablet. Or I can play a game on one while watching a video on the other. Why return that???

I didn't. I am very happy with the device. I said many times that I've been waiting forever for an iPad like this and I'm glad it exists. It doesn't have the screen distortion issue (I only get the distortion if I give it moderate to heavy pressure) and the power button is sitting perfectly straight. I've experienced enough tearing (albeit horizontal) on my 60Hz LG monitor to make the portrait tearing tolerable on this iPad.

When holding the device in hand and writing on it, the balance is off. It doesn’t feel firm in your hand. And pressing down writing with the pencil it feels awkward and like the iPad may slip out of your hand if you press to hard. It’s not stable because the iPad is so small.
I see. Thanks for the update.

I am keeping mine. If I hadn’t been reading about this issue, I would have just attributed it to my middle age eyes, but it doesn’t bother me.

The narrow display and refresh pattern makes it a lot (a lot) more noticeable than on previous iPads though (for me). Happy for those who is not bothered by it. It's pretty annoying for me, I really wanted to like the device.
Indeed ... me too. Sadly when scrolling thru these forums at a moderate speed in portrait, the horizontal pink/purple lines above each post were diagonal!

I actually returned 3 of them. The jelly scroll was bad but honestly I think I would have returned it even if it wasn’t there. The screen was just such a letdown for me. It was extremely blurry when scrolling and everything just seemed too small. I loved my iPad mini 2 back in the day so I had high hopes but using an iPad Pro and a 13pro made the 60hz screen look so terrible. The only way i could use a mini is if they come out with a pro mini. Paying 600 for the iPad mini 6 felt like such a ripoff but I would be fine with a mini pro that starts at 650 with 128gb. Add 120hz and Face ID and call it a day.

I got one on launch day, but I returned it. Not due to jelly (I honestly didn't see any), but because I didn't want a second iPad that would defeat the reason why I bought an 11" iPad Pro. Because I knew I would use the Mini more than the Pro. But the Mini kept calling to me :) and I rebought it. And I still can't say I see any jelly.

Nope. It’s giving me the true iPad experience. Not some tablet trying to be a mediocre laptop. I’ve enjoyed the mini and the form factor is perfect for me. Btw did we really need another thread on this?

I didn’t return it, but then I never said I was going to. I think that was what the OP was looking for, since so many said they were going to. Some posted having done so, others were intending to but there was at least one incidence of a poster seeming to have second thoughts about returning.

I can’t see it. There had been a few occasions when I thought I might have done, but in repeating whatever I had done to feel that way, I couldn’t see it. The lines on here don’t slant as others have shown with their units. I scrolled faster than I would normally, but whether others scroll faster than that, who knows. Once you’ve decided to keep it, it makes sense to follow the advice of the guy that made the video comparing with the base iPad and a non-Apple 120 Hz tablet and not go looking for it if you can’t see it.
