I too was hesitant to buy the dual link adapter because of all the problems that people have been reporting with it.

I already had a two year old Dell 3006WFP before I bought my 17" MBP a couple of weeks ago, and it was always my intention to use them together - I hadn't read about all the problems with it until last week. Since by that point I already had the MBP and the monitor, I decided to take the gamble and go ahead with getting the adapter anyway. Luckily, it all seems to work perfectly so far. Maybe it's early days, but I haven't had any issues at all yet.

maybe they have sorted out the issues with this product. just to confirm dual link does not mean ability to connect two displays to a single MPB using mini display port right? I would like to be able to do this but have not found a workable solution as yet.

If the flickering problem occurs, just press CTRL+SHIFT+EJECT..

This will sleep the display and it will be alright once it woke up again..

I experience error about 2 times daily.. Sometime, it is just once or not at all..

No, dual-link DVI is the version of DVI that allows you to run one screen at high resolutions like 2560x1600.

Is there a Dual Link DVI to Displayport adapter out there?

If there is, then we can probably use it with a combination of the Displayport to Mini Displayport adapter and who knows, all the trouble would disappear..

I've been running mine now for about 70 hours in total without any problems whatsoever, so I'm hoping it's not going to happen :)

30" screen is a lot better for Aperture. Just a shame Aperture is buggy and a bit slow, but that's another story I guess.

Could this have anything to do with the GPU or video RAM? Does the adapter itself (poorly) perform scaling or is the weakness on the computer side?

I'm on the verge of buying a 30" ACD (used) and a new Mac Mini with the faster processor and 4GB RAM (which probably have nothing to do with it). Naturally I'm now spooked to the point where I'd consider a smaller monitor (yuk) in which case I'd then have to consider an iMac with its glossy screen (double-yuk).

The stupid DisplayPort -> DL DVI is forcing me to stay with a non-Unibody. Anyone NOT have any issues?

So, my Dell 3008WFP was delivered today, and I connected it directly to my unibody MacBook via the mini-DP to standard-DP adapter cable (http://estore.circuitassembly.com/products/Mini-Displayport-to-Displayport-Adapter-Cable.html) that came last week.

Works like a charm. Full 2560x1600 resolution with no stupid dual-link DVI adapter dongle (and lost USB port).

I'm very happy. Plus, now I can have my Mac Pro and my MacBook connected to the 30" display simultaneously. For me, that's very handy. The Mac Pro is connected via dual-link DVI and the UMB via DisplayPort.

VERY GOOD NEWS!! Now, I wonder if they will ever make a Dual Link DVI to Displayport cable...

The 3008 if well over a grand though. My LP3065 is serving me well :S

Dont feel like buying $1300 worth of stuff just to test out how well it works. When I buy something it should just work...

Got my uMBP on Monday with the dual link DVI adaptor.

My external monitor is a 30inch Eiizo sx3031w, so far it's working well and over the past 3 days i have had it fail to detect twice on bootup and once the image was scrambled as if the dual link was out of sync.

Pulling the USB powering the adaptor fixed the problem, using OSX and Windows 7 64.

Something to note is the Eizo does not support HDCP on the dual link input.

Another note is I can't use the dual link adaptor to feed a single link device as it does not seem to get EDID, so my HD projector only works at 640x480 so will need a dumb DVI or HDMI adaptor.

I just came back from the Apple store and got my Mini Display Port to Dual Link DVI adapter/cable replaced. The replacement seems to have fixed my problem. Before this replacement, I could not switch screens using my Belkin KVM without getting the snow in between.

I dont know about the flicker just yet as I've not used it long enough, but I am happy about being able to use my KVM now.

For all of you with problems, try getting a replacement and see how it goes.

No problems so far

Got my adapter 6 hours ago. I connected my new 17 Macbook Pro with the Dell 3007.
Not one problem so far. It seems to work perfekt. No difference between Macbook and Windows PC. Not one failure.
I am very happy now after the bad rumors about this thing. :)

edit: I tried both graphic cards. No difference. Everything ok.

Lately my adapter is posting some failures... Still hoping that this is a firmware issue..

Today the first picture failure.
Had to close and reopen the book, then it was gone.
