Apple is wrong. The new iPad Mini will be larger than my first iPad: the Mini is not a Mini. There is no longer a small iPhone: for the phones, too, Apple keeps thinking bigger is better. TouchID would seem a necessity in these masked Covid19 times: Apple has none of it. The dongle collection continues. With these and so many other hardware and software considerations, Apple has stopped considering what customers may want and need. Apple thinks Apple knows what customers SHOULD want and need. Like it or lump it. Apple is no better than Google: another vendor is just a click away. I have enjoyed the Apple ecosystem for many years. At last, enough is enough. I will sell my Apple stock, abandon my Apple devices and software, and advise all others to do the same: take just a click away. I hope to see the juggernaut go down. I know there are those who think this will be a useless futile act on my part. But no single drop thinks it caused the flood.

As much as I was joking earlier, I do wonder how the smaller Pro models have been selling. It's interesting that the 12" device has retained the same screen size across a few models (just bezel shrinks). Whilst the smaller model has gone from 9" => 10.5" => 11".

Did Apple find these devices to not be success they expected? And now putting the cheaper Air in the 11" Pro's spot? It's weird as the 11" Pro is a hard sell right now, so not updating it would be strange. I fully get why you wouldn't want the 12" too, it is rather large (I've had both designs)

Great thanks so much!! I still have the original box and everything so will give that too..I am not vaccinated yet but my friend is and she offered to go to the apple store for me when the time goes to do the trade in, would that work or do I have to do it(Show ID, etc) just as long as every apple store does trade in, etc then it should be fine
From what I remember when you set up your appointment online, they ask if someone else will be picking up. Then they ask fir the name. So you should be ok n

What are you talking about?
I’m referring vto physical size. My Mini 4 is the convenient (for me) 7-some inch screen. My first iPad was the 9-some incher. How large is the new so-called Mini? I think Apple’s referring to “Mini” as perhaps “mini-priced”, not “mini-sized”. The concenient small iPhone SE disappeared first, and now the Mini (as *I* call it) iPad. Bigger is better, Apple seems to think. A huge iPhone no longer fits my shirtpocket. A huge iPad Mini no longer fits the pocket I reserved for it in my business satchel.

The iPad mini has not changed size. I still don’t understand what you are talking about. It’s always been 7.9” screen.

A la Engadget: Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple is working on a new iPad mini that could measure in at 8.5 to 9 inches.

So you‘re all up in arms about a rumor that is a year old, which says nothing about the overall size of the device? Obviously if there is no home button, the screen could grow to 8.5” without increasing the size of the device at all.

Hard to understand how they could increase the screen size without increasing he size of the device. I’ll defer to your obvious expertise, as my screen is edge to edge. And frankly I’m tired of entering a long password everytime I want to use Apple Pay at the grocery. (I don’t consider a numeric pass all that secure, but again, I’ll defer to your obvious expertise.) All in your hands, pard. No more arguments from me.

Your screen is not edge-to-edge - there is a huge bezel on the bottom where the home button goes. And a matching one on top where the camera is. Compare that to the other ipads.

The current ipad dimensions are 5.3” by 8”. The screen is 4.7” by 6.3”. Even if they don’t shrink the left and right bezels, if they fill the device with screen and leave 0.5” bezels all around, the screen Would be 4.7” x 7.5”. That would translate to a 8.85” diagonal screen, which is in the middle of the range predicted by that rumor.

And I’m not sure what you are talking about re: numeric passwords - if they remove the home button it will because they replace it with Face ID, like every other ipad.
