Congrats! Where's the applause smiley?
I don't see it as an option on this forum and I don't know the ascii equivalent of it.

Do I get congrats for having been with her 22 years in total?

Well there you go, investing time and effort for something for her ought not to get any jibes... (hopefully!) :D

I'd be more than happy to buy her the iPhone if she buys me one, too. ;)

I'd drive 2 hours to see Monterey. :)

It's a moot point now. It just disappeared from the list.

I'm trying to buy a T-Mobile 128 GB 6 Plus online at the Apple Store for Personal Pickup. I'm fully aware of how quickly they disappear once they show up in the local stores' inventory, but I still think that Apple's algorithm for determining availability is a little flawed. Yesterday a bunch of inventory started showing up at many of the Apple Stores in the Bay Area. I went through the process of trying to order my phone online. I would pick one of the local stores that showed "Available today", and by the time I hit the purchase button, I got the "Error occurred/Please try again later" message. No surprise, but when I went back to the Availability choices, all the stores that showed as having availability (minus the store from which I attempted my purchase) STILL showed them as available, and there's NO WAY that they would all still be available in the time it took me to attempt to make my purchase. Even so, I tried to purchase my phone from each of the other so-called "Available today" sites, and, as expected failed each time. Come on, Apple. Stop wasting my time!

Try the Apple Store app. I had troubles ordering via Safari with the same exact issue you had. I'm in the Bay Area as well.

Check my thread.

As I mentioned in an earlier posting, the Apple Store app does not offer T-Mobile as an option. I'm looking to buy device-only, so T-Mobile is my only option online at this time.

Yep. At least was told that from my local RS's.

I'm not having any luck with RS. They don't have an option to buy either the 6 or 6 Plus on their website. They do have a "Find a Local Store" link, but it only shows me stores in my area. It doesn't say if they have the 6 or 6 Plus in stock. Am I missing something?

On the link I posted above, you can narrow search results to just iPhone 6+ for VZW. Then just call to confirm.

They probably get 1 or 2 of the phone in stock and scalpers have bots set up to place the order faster than any human could.

Apple should add CAPTCHA to the online ordering process to prevent the bots from taking "our" iPhones.

I called their bluff! I tried to order it for pickup at the Monterey store and I was rejected yet again! Well, that's another monkey off my back!

Not sure where you are, but Santa Rosa seems to consistently have SG 128+ T-Mo stock available. And they stay online for a while. It's about a 2 hour drive for me, so I'm still waiting. I should probably just get it because I've wasted more than 4 hours sitting and searching for one!

Santa Rosa again with more stock! I think that place is the only area in the world free of scalpers!

My wife and I decided to roll the dice and walk in to the Apple Store in San Mateo. After waiting for 15 minutes for the Apple employee to talk to the people ahead of us in line, he asked us what he wanted, which was two 128 GB 6 Pluses, any carrier but Sprint. Lo and behold, he had them! I got the Silver Verizon, and she got the Space Gray AT&T. Our total time spent in line and purchasing the phones was about an hour. Time well spent! Now it's time to backup the 5 and restore it to the 6 Plus. :D

Does the personal pickup option guarantee you get the phone when you go through the process? My local Apple store shows availability

My gripe was I had to listen to the apple employee tell me she wished she had met Steve Jobs while I waited for my phone! :D

Yes, once you order the phone you'll first receive a "processing" email and a little while later you'll get a "we're ready for you" email. At that point there's a phone sitting at the store with your name on it (literally). You have a week or so to go pick it up.

Obviously if you order in the middle of the night you may not get the ready-for-you email until closer to opening time.
