Which phone do you have? Also, are you also using an Apple watch? Apparently, if you have notifications turned on on the watch, the iPhone will not sound alerts when it’s locked. In addition, you might want to take a look at this Apple support article. I didn’t know this feature existed, lol. Maybe it will help.I’m on the phone and can’t get alerts for texts. Nothing audible and I can’t figure it out. DND is off and all alerts are on. Help a stupid idiot from New York please. Thank you
Are you not receiving banner notifications either? Have you had a chance to look at the article yet? I never thought about it, but when I’m wearing my Apple Watch and a text comes in, I don’t get an audible text alert either, and I do have notifications turned on with the watch, too. If you can’t find a solution, it may be time to give tech support a call. I would really like to know the solution if you call them.I do have a series 6 watch with my iPhone SE (2020). I’m on the phone with someone and no alerts for texts? Is my phone broken?
Well, all I know is that if you’re on the phone talking, the notifications don’t really sound. Also, if you are looking at the phone while it’s unlocked, it rings so softly that you can’t hear it. I was really glad of that because I would be holding it reading or playing a game, then it would ring at normal volume and scare me to death, lol. Maybe you should also enable it to vibrate so you don’t miss a notification while your talking on the phone. My brother thank you.
The watch is on the charger and I’m on the phone so how do I know if I am getting notifications if I don’t hear anything while I’m talking to someone.
It seems to be either an issue or a change in functionality in iOS 14:I’m on the phone and can’t get alerts for texts. Nothing audible and I can’t figure it out. DND is off and all alerts are on. Help a stupid idiot from New York please. Thank you
Quite frankly, I don’t think I would want my phone making noises when I’m in a conversation with somebody. Banners and haptic feedback yes but no noises. I would imagine this is by design.

That's not how it used to work all along though for many years until iOS 14. So while this might certainly be a functionality change, and one that some might like and want, since it's not how it used to work for a long time it would seem that setting it up as an option where the old way could still be available would be the appropriate way to go. Assuming it was a change made on purpose and not just a bug of some sort. This is what I was thinking as well. If you’re on the phone with someone then constant notification sound is really annoying and disturbing. If you’re on FaceTime then you can see the banner notifications. If you’re wearing your watch then it taps on the wrist instead of making a noise. I don’t see any issues with any of these use cases.
I'm kind of surprised you even see banners, I haven't seen those for a while (probably since iOS 13) at least not while I'm on the in-call screen. Now since iOS 14 even the lighter audible/vibrate alerts are gone too.I’m on the phone with Leon a senior advisor in Australia. Nicest guy in the world. He tested his phone (8 plus) and his is doing the same thing. We get banners but no audible notification while on calls. Bug or done on purpose?
That sounds somewhat different then notifications not alerting during calls.OP, I'm also having a similar issue with my iPhone 7 running 14.0.1. It's doesn't happen all the time, but every now and then I just won't get a text notification at all. Really strange and hoping they resolve this in the next update.
