Sweet works great for saving hd 720p videos offline. Yourtube hd for iPad only saved in standard non hd resolution and cost money and required you to be jailbroken

i might be missing something as well but I too cannot see the benefit of downloading and storing something I can easily stream in the first place. Anybody care to shed light on why this is a big deal?

On several occasion I have wanted to show somebody a video that I found only to realize it has been removed. So now if I feel like I may want to share it I can download and use at my discretion.

MacRumors really dropped the ball on this one. Apps that will likely be taken down by Apple should be front page news. This is very time sensitive info and whenever an app squeezes into the App Store (when it shouldn't have), it demands a lot of exposure so people don't miss out. Instead, there's some crap about some Snow Leopard graphics seed.

Speaking of this, is there any way to be automatically be notified when something like this makes front page news on Macrumors? I don't check it very often myself but if something like this was posted and I could get an email, text or some other kind of notification, that would be awesome. Would suck to miss out on things like this just because I can't check the site several times a day.

When I sold my 2G, MxTube was one of the first apps I missed. So convenient to watch vids offline. I had about 40 vids including a couple full eps of Anthony Bourdain No Reservations. Many vids dont stay on YouTube forever. Glad to get a download before it is too late.

Many other apps have been removed from the App store after Apple approved of them such as HandyLight.

None though have been remotely "killed" from a user's device yet.

Yeah, but Handy Light had a hidden feature which no one knew about. MiTube has no hidden function, so Apple knew they were approving a app that could download Youtube vids.

It's gone now. Still shows up in the App Store but says "The item you tried to buy is no longer available" when I try to download it.

The app is still available via a direct link to the App Store from within Cydia. Jailbreakers can also just download MxTube but if one still wanted an official app the link is still active. I just downloaded MiTube now.

Sorry to be dumb but how do you do that?

Any way to get the direct link if you're not jailbroken?

Your phone must be jailbroken. Load up Cydia and search for MxTube. From within that app preview area is a direct download link to the AppStore where I was still able to download MiTube.

Thanks. But now they've closed that off too. I hope that the author loads it on Cydia.
