The sad thing is that this move degrades the quality of the game. You have less people and the chances of someone having the time to develop into a really solid player is reduced.Add to the owners wanting to cut positions in the minors to save money too. Dumb.
They won't want to lose their salary though. So I don't think they have ever called for a shorter season. The players have long wanted a shorter season, and it looks like they might get their wish, this year at least…
The players realized at how much they screwed themselves out of money last CBA, so yes. The player's association is going around beating the drum of unity every chance they get.The owners underestimated the players this time. Not going to be a cake walk deal this time around.
Shortened season if no deal reached by Monday.
Sadly, shortened season it will be. I can't see a resolution by then, unless one side caves for the good of the game. And that's probably not going to happen.
The owners want a short season so they don't have to pay the players. The players will wait them out to prove a point.Once the lockout was announced a shortened season was inevitable. Now the only question is how many games will be cut.
Doesn't seem that they'll make any progress anytime soon.
So much for the lies about owning a team not being profitable.
Manfred said it a few weeks ago.Do people really think owing a professional sports team is unprofitable?

I would think even the bottom of the barrel teams would pull a profit, might not be the numbers of say the Yankees, but I imagine it is still a decent number.
I have to say its just ridiculous that the commissioner of baseball would in effect be crying poor mouth and implying how those poor poor owners are struggling financially.I would think even the bottom of the barrel teams would pull a profit, might not be the numbers of say the Yankees, but I imagine it is still a decent number.
