Starting off the 2025 thread with a sad note...

RIP Bob.

He was not only a mediocre baseball player, a terrific "play-by-play" announcer (Oh the stories he would tell!) and a FunnyMan, he also had a big heart. He was a fervent supporter of Make-A-Wish Foundation, and not with money only, but his time as well. Rest in Peace, Bob. 😇

"I must be in the front roooow"...

RIP Mr. Uecker... you are now in the one of the best seats in the house calling the plays.

Another favorite line...

"Juuuuuuuust a bit outside!" The look his his partner sitting next to him when he says this. Priceless.

It's 100% guaranteed that the Dodgers will win the World Series again this year, and next year, and so on

…unless one of the other 29 teams does. ;)

Comcast Sports Bay Area jacked the price of their cable package that includes Giants broadcasts by $50/mo.

Between that and the Dodgers signing all the good players on the free agent market, why bother watching?

Yup. And if I buy the MLB Network package, all the games I want to see are blacked out anyway. It's getting really hard to follow your team.

I'll probably spend more time following my local High A teams this year and save my money for the Savannah Bananas tour.

I'm surprised this hasn't been put here yet.

Here is what I want to know...who is the coward, the buffoon, the fool, the imbecile, the moron, the dunce...that denied Ichiro ****ING Suzuki a unanimous vote into the HOF? Looking online and on YouTube, there are a lot of people who would also like to know who this individual is.

I swear, the voters for the HOF are dumb as **** sometimes.

The Dodgers certainly appear to be the best on paper, but they've still got to win it on the field. Based on their recent WS history, last season may have been the first one where they actually met such expectations (not counting the anomalous '20 season).

Listen to some of those writers talk, particularly when it comes to the Steroid Era players, and it's no surprise.

Some of those guys think they're tasked with choosing a new Pope (incidentally, also a secret ballot).

The sports HoFs should be taken with a big dose of FWIW, as with other forms of industry awards.

Ichiro Suzuki they were talking about his ballot on one of the sports shouting shows and it turns there was one, one, voter who didn't vote for him. lol

You'd think Ichiro would be a lock for a unanimous ballot... I'd love to know who didn't vote for him... and why.

If these guys have as much conviction, and character as they expect the candidates to have, there should be no problem for that writer to step forward, and offer their justification. But, it's voluntary.

I'm counting on Albert Pujols being the first position player to be unanimously voted in, but given the voting history of the BBWAA, I wouldn't bet any of my hard-earned cash on it.

He can't be the first. The first, and only, was Mariano Rivera.
