¡Vamos los Gigantes!

I don't have high expectations for them this season. Anything above a .500 record while developing some young players into productive major leaguers is a win.

Meanwhile, I assume the Dogs will three-peat, as they've built an absolute juggernaut.

It did a pretty good job! The “StL” kind of dominates the overall design though. If that was smaller and a “B” was added, it would be more even, as long as it doesn’t give you a “BS”! ;)
I noticed that, too. But I just didn't have the energy to strive for perfection ;)

MLB commissioner Manfred went on WFAN this week and talked...a lot. And, not a lot to like either. I never realized I was as so old school until I heard the commissioner of MLB - which used to be a bastion of tradition - dropping acid on New York radio and discussing his visions for the game, man. Manfred wants an in-season tournament like the NBA Cup; expansion adding more teams; rejiggering the divisions (again); messing with the schedule to 'balance' or limit the amount of travel; having split seasons so you conceivably could have two winners in each division each year before the playoffs start; a salary cap (of course) a deadline in when you could sign free agents.

Pitch clock? Big win
Wild cards? Win
Ghost runner? That's a push
This latest stuff? Hell no

while cycling home yesterday I was wondering

is Pete Alonso is a big.........
baby?
homerun hitter?
hero?
real goat?
spoiled athlete?
smart athlete?
dope?
charitable person?

who knows anymore?

His agent obviously pushed him for every dime
but he really loved Queens NY

The NY Mets were smart for letting him walk.
they know every year he would want a huge salary bump
he is not a great defensive player and ruined their season on one play last season
that over-lob that injured Senga and they tailed spun since.
he always celebrated a double or hit like a 12 year old to the bench.
but
his charitable work was non-stop with unfortunate youngsters.
his family is excellent decent people who should have a TV show.
the fan love him more than any met since Piazza.
even more that Wright.

my jest for this message is
"are heralded baseball players going to act like this,
great at the plate, clinics and onTV
then screwing up simple plays, school boy antics and contract disputes?"

SNY is baffled the Mets let him go,
im not, though he will be missed.
they have Soto-Lindor and 2 great young prospects and a supporting staff.
but lost heart with McNeil and Nimmo also leaving.

oh well I think perhaps Arizona or Tampa might be better this season to watch.
since the NY Mets only go the the WS every 15 years.
1969-72, 1986-2000-2015 so 2030 is next.
maybe that is why the Mets let these players walk away.

not that im a mets fan I just like SNY baseball broadcasts.

Probably all of the above.
I know, just what a head scratcher but what do we expect now.

very soon
28 days, 13 hours and 15 munutes
a young shortstop will hustle over and glove a true bounced roundball
then hurl the rawhide sphere over to a eager first baseman
who stretches towards the left field foul line to earn this spot
while a speedy prospect will try to out run that ball as one against Uslan Bolt!

I agree with that. I think not having won the long-term contract was the burr in the saddle that drove Alonso. Now that he's got it, and he's removed from the cauldron of NYC, surrounded by a team he can neither lead nor find a niche where he fits, his output will dwindle and as he presses to do more, he'll break down. Mo Vaughan and Glen Davis are good examples.

The Cubs are not standing still, signing Alex Bregman and trading for Edward Cabrera. But they probably still could use a top starting pitcher. It should be a good season on the north side.

It should be fun watching the Tampa Bay Rays, and how the new ownership deals with the way this team is designed. It takes a special breed of owner to accept the fact that you can get great production from low payroll players if the player knows he can get to the big money in a couple years with the likes of the Yankees, Dodgers, etc. This team is still making bank even with low ticket sales. The recent sale price of 1.7 billion shows they are a valuable commodity. Just goes to show what high pride and low ego can get you.

I get the feeling Pete Alonso is going to be Glenn Davis 2.0. Sorry for the unpleasant throwback, O's fans
things are different now,
well the O's did not lose a Harnish, Finley or a Shilling.
Davis did have injuries and only played 40, 100, 60 games with the Os

seems to me that Alonso seems more heathy and has a personal training crew, chef and computers,
Glenn Davis was in a different phase of baseball back then.
