Nobody watches baseball so these will be good for those that want to keep track of scores.
Maybe you got this confused with the NBA.

The only app that comes closest to that kind of feature is the Sports Alerts app.
I absolutely LOVE watching random Basketball games, too! 🤣Maybe you got this confused with the NBA.
Yeah, I'm not seeing any games as trackable either.Well so much for it being enabled...I hope yesterday wasn't a fluke but if it's going to be this iffy and/or selective with who you can track and when, I'll just use Sports Alerts instead.

This seems so promising, just wish it was easier to do (or actually just work), because I'd love to able to track my Cubs from the lock screen!I just updated my MLB app, I don't see any live stuff either. Jedi, how did you get this view. My Score page has innings and more info between the games.
Don’t worry, they’ll lose to the Sox today…This seems so promising, just wish it was easier to do (or actually just work), because I'd love to able to track my Cubs from the lock screen!
If nobody = tens of millions of people each day then, yes, nobody watches baseball.Nobody watches baseball so these will be good for those that want to keep track of scores.
As a lifelong Cubs fan who recently had to move from Chicago, I want the same thing. This seems so promising, just wish it was easier to do (or actually just work), because I'd love to able to track my Cubs from the lock screen!
I'd guess it's just a slow rollout for the preseason to test the feature before the season starts. We'll probably be able to track any game during the regular season.I wonder if you can only track the team you favorited. That seems dumb because I try to watch the team that I favorited almost all the games. This is probably the first thing I was wondering about when it came to live activities and sports. If you are watching that game, you don't want to be spoiled by it on the lock screen.
It's mentioned in the release note for today's 16.0.1 update but no games today have the option to start a live activity that i can see.I'm also not seeing any way to Track games, and I do see that I have yesterday's update installed. Although there's no mention of Live Activities in the release notes (v16.0.0), and for something that big you'd think it would be one of the 7 bullet points along with "General bug fixes and performance optimizations"...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sports Alerts IS awesome in spite of the design of the app 😄Considering how awesome the Sports Alerts app is, this weird "selective rollout" to Live Activities with the MLB app just looks like they're trolling us. There's already a pretty high bar set as a standard with that app, in my opinion. To not be able to at least just shove a sometimes updating score of any MLB game you want up there seems like a joke.
Uber just started offering Live Activities - it's in my area at leastThat doesn't fully explain apps like Uber not having it. They already send out live status updates via push notifications.
We get it. You dont like baseball.Out of a 3 hour game, where the score can be 0-0, there’s what? 90 seconds of action? Perfect thing for live activities so you don’t waste 2 hours 58 minutes and 30 seconds of your day.
I do like what Sports Alerts does but I agree that it could use a design overhaul lolSports Alerts IS awesome in spite of the design of the app 😄
That's what I originally thought too but my "favorited" team doesnt have the option today for live activities so that theory is out for now. However, if I'm watching the game in person or on TV, I wont have live activites going for THAT game but I will for others I'm interested in. All depends on how vested you are in other teams and wanting to know when every single thing happens lol.I wonder if you can only track the team you favorited. Jedi,From the MLB app, go into the "Scores" tab. From there, you'll see an option to track a game. Click on the track game button and you'll get something like this

What's interesting though is that this only seemed to work for the Red Sox/Yankees game today. I tried to do the same thing with the Dodgers and Mariners game and wasnt given the option to track the game. Also, changing your "Favorite" team didnt seem to do anything either but that might be a thing they change later on.
Honestly, it looked like this, except the option of "track this game" was visible. I had no notification that it was an option from the app. I just happened to be in the MLB app at the right time and there it was lol.Jedi,
Thanks for posting. I’m curious, what the screen look like around the Red Sox/Yankees game before you activated it and it said “TRACKING”?

Seeing as how the Tracking option has been unavailable for nearly everyone else, I can only assume that it was a very, very quiet test that MLB turned on to see how it would do for a live game. The fact that they havent enabled it for today's games is a mystery but they could be doing further testing of it as well.
Just tap on the white part of any game and it will collapse into a more condensed view.
