I saw a screenshot of it showing the Blue Jays/Rays game today, too.

I was more concerned that they were going to lock it behind an MLB.tv subscription.
Some MLB pundits think the T Devil Jays will have a better record than the T Blue Rays this season!
I beg to differ.....

Saving for the eventual L the Sox will take.

HOW did you select to track this game?? I can't in my MLB app.

EDIT: Do you have MLB.tv or MLB At Bat or neither? HOPING that Live Activities isn't limited to MLB.tv subscribers only. The blackout restrictions in Knoxville for Cubs games is RIDICULOUS and I refuse to pay $150/yr if I can't watch EVERY game.

This is the Sports Alerts app. It’ll show you Live Activity for any game in any sport. The MLB app doesn’t show any for me. Right now it’s basically just a cool Sox icon.

Call me when MLB let’s me pay to watch when and where I want. Blackouts ruin it for me. I know my voice is well outweighed by the sacks of cash they get from the “cable” companies.

If Bally implode, you might get your wish, depending on market.

I've found the CBS Sports app to be really handy for very quickly checking on scores.
Yes and the “widgets” you can add from that CBS app and others to the home screens and ‘today’ area where you swipe to the right…those all support showing scores that are relatively live, but i guess not as live as live activities? 🤷‍♂️ And it is automatic.

For keeping an eye on sports, it seems those widgets already do about 90% of what you would except from these live activities features.

Having to select tracking on individual games even if I’ve favorited a team is absurd.
Agreed. Sports Alerts was ahead of the game in terms of giving the option of turning on live activities for ANY game and all of your favorite teams, right from the lock screen. As much I like MLB finally enabling the option, I'm still finding I use Sports Alert more often. We'll see what happens once the regular season starts but so far, MLB's implementation is kind of meh. Hopefully (not likely), they continue to improve the feature.

It doesnt seem to be that Live Activities is limited based on subscription type. My account is "Free" (until I sign up via T-Mobile) but I've been able to track 2 Red Sox games so far.

The inconsistency of tracking games is due to the fact that 1, they just rolled out the feature and 2, in the article from 9to5Mac (above), it is clarified that not ALL games, even your favorite teams, will be able to be tracked due to limitations with spring training systems. Once the regular season starts, it should be a more widely available feature.

I do pay for the yearly MLB app and have yet to see Live Activities for any White Sox game yet...

But, as most Chicago Sports fans already are aware, it's always teams like the Red Sox, Yankees, or Dodgers that get the special treatment on a nationwide level. I'd be shocked if the folks making the MLB app just assume only Red Sox fans, Yankees fans, or Dodgers fans would want this 🤣

I love Carrot’s Live Activities, showing upcoming or ongoing rain/snow. The Now Playing works great as a way to get to the Remote app after using it to control an Apple TV. And then the Sports Alerts app. Everything updates when it needs to. Timers, obviously.. To each their own I guess. I love it.
How do you activate them for carrot

How do you activate them for carrot
Usually just tapping any of the notifications Carrot send out, like Precipitation starting soon or Storm Cell approaching. Then the Live activity gets going, whatever it may be. I find a carrot and Sports Alerts to be the only apps that provide that in any way.

Has anyone figured out how to "auto-track" a favorite team's games? First-world problem for sure, but it's awful annoying to have to manually click "Track Game" every day the Cubs play. :)

I dont think that is a thing in the MLB app. The only sports app I've found to have any kind of "auto-track" is Sports Alerts. I think MLB's stance is "Be grateful we have the live activities option at all". But I'll be honest, I have yet to use the live activities for MLB for this season, aside from the one spring training game. Since I can track multiple teams in Sports Alerts, I've used their live activities a lot more than MLB's so far.

I've been using the built-in Apple TV app's Live Activity for games. It seems to work about the same as the MLB app's Live Activity, except that the TV app sends you a notification at every game start. If you tap the notification, the Live Activity automatically starts. Not ideal, but as close as I've been able to get to automatic tracking.

Sports Alerts does the same thing. Tap the notification on your phone or watch and youre given the option to start live activities but you can do it with multiple teams too, not just ONE team so there's that.
